Archduke and Duchess Wounded In Assassination Attempt
An archduke and his wife were shot during a royal procession in Vienna as an eighth grade student Gavrilo Prinzip and a co conspirator fired on them. The Duchess was struck in the abdomen and the archduke in the face while returning from the town hall with medical aid offered to the injured. Prinzip, 18, claimed nationalist motive and denied accomplices.
