President Wilson told callers in Washington that once the Colombia and Nicaragua agreements are in order in the foreign relations committee they will receive ample Senate backing. He avoided treaty details, noted opposition to a 25 million dollar Colombia payment and certain Nicaragua provisions, and said he backs a square, open deal. He also backed selling battleships Mississippi and Idaho to Greece, and urged forward action on the New Haven suit unless Boston and Maine stock can be sold.

Twelve Are Lost In Launch Wreck At Oswego Canal
Coroner Moore opened an inquiry into a launch disaster on Oswego canal last night in Syracuse New York that drowned two men three women and seven children. Twenty passengers were aboard the vessel licensed for ten and a canvas curtain was down creating a death trap. Owner Lewis Dailer said the craft struck an object fifteen feet from the bank and rain and darkness prevented rescue. Two of the victims were of the driver's children.
