197 Believed To Have Died In Mine
Lethbridge Alberta June 20 rescuers after recovering 20 charred bodies at nine this morning were driven from the Hill Crest mine by fire before noon. Explosion yesterday wrecked underground property and is believed to have killed 197 men including superintendent James Quigley and Fire Hoss Taylor. Five bodies were removed this afternoon leaving 162 entombed. In Liege Belgium two hundred coal miners narrowly escaped when fire trapped 200 inside Vieulte Marthage colliery. all escaped with rescue aid after hours of peril.
