Republican Convention Opens as Roosevelt Cheers Spark Delegates
Chicago June 16 The Coliseum doors opened for the Republican National Convention as delegates filled the great hall. National Chairman Harry S New called the assembly to order at 12 14 PM with cheers for Roosevelt and Fairbanks. Senator Burrows was elected temporary chairman and praised four years of party governance noting population and industry gains, farm values, coal output, gold production, and bank deposits amid a strong national ascent.
