Englishman Killed in Wright Biplane Flight

Bournemouth, July 12. C S Rolls, son of Lord Langatock and hero of the recent Dover to France flight, was killed this morning when his Wright biplane buckled 40 feet from the ground and overturned. The incident followed a sudden loss of control as he approached landing.

Gardiner’s flight ends in Greenwich wreck in Conn

Garden City, L. I., crossed Long Island sound to his father in law Commodore E C Benedict at Greenwich Conn. His aeroplane failed, fell several feet and wrecked. Harmon was badly shaken but not seriously injured as a tree branch broke the fall. He traveled less than seven miles.

Gunboat Castine Rammed by Submarine in Mock Attack

Provincetown Mass July 12 The gunboat Castine flagship of the submarine flotilla was rammed by the submarine Bonita during a mock attack and beached near North Truro to prevent sinking. Two plates loosened dynamo and boiler compartments damaged but armor held. Officers prepared to abandon ship but none were hurt. Bonita escaped with dented armor and minor rail loss. Castine built Bath Maine launched 1893 1177 tons.

Following statements by Mrs Sarah Mahany mother of Raymond Mahany who was shot by BKimer Cooper in what was believed to be an attempted robbery police chose to postpone an inquest while they investigate all facts.
