Edward Hutchinson of the Baltimore & Ohio railway station in Clarington Ohio was robbed and murdered early today and the station burned over his head. Authorities say a large sum of money was taken as the killers escaped. Elsewhere John Tintura coal miner in Bush Ul fainted at Union station after seven days with a broken back, doctors say recovery unlikely. Ambassador Aoki bid farewell in Washington after meeting with state department officials.
Denver on December 30 reports Mayor Speer ordered gambling houses to close, citing open letters urging district attorneys to enforce laws with the attorney general ready to act if needed. Midnight and Sunday saloon closings will be enforced and prize fighting halted in Colorado. In Kansas City, Grand Opera House, led by A Judah, closed amid a clash with Judge Wallace over Sunday closing, as other theaters remained open indicating ongoing conflict.
New York report states Mrs Mollie Desmond attempted death by swallowing 144 needles eighteen months ago. After twenty five operations to remove the needles doctors saved all but a dozen. Domestic troubles prompted the drastic act.

Dr. William R. Hamilton aged 92 former Peoria mayor and Civil War volunteer surgeon is dead. He headed the construction company that built the Pacific and Rock Island railroad now part of the Rock Island system.

New York, Dec 30. The Cunard liner Pannonia halted for an hour to allow the ship's surgeon to perform an appendicitis operation aboard amid a heavy sea. The patient, a man passenger, is recovering. A fleet of seven trans Atlantic liners, including the Pannonia Campania Cedric St Louis Pretoria Caronia and Minneapolis, arrived after stormy seas delayed them. The Campania brought 3,000,000 in specie and the Cedric 1,200,000.
