Old Sores and Bad Blood Promoted by Morbid Impurities
An 19th century sales pitch explains old sores resist local treatment because impurities in the blood sustain disease. It blames debility, waste retention, hereditary taint, and constitutional illness for persistent ulcers. Promotes S. S. S. as a purely vegetable blood purifier that heals from the bottom up and offers free medical advice and a regional company address.

Moline Proposes 12 Take Garbage for City Year
The garbage committee favored a contract with J S Fargo to haul city waste for about seven months at 125 dollars monthly. Fargo’s yard lies west of Prospect Park in Sheridan Heights, with downtown trash to be hauled to Fargo and bluff district waste to the city. A second item: a cartridge explosion at John Bleckley’s Silvis grocery caused by a stray cartridge on the tracks after an interurban car passed, narrowly missing patrons. The East Moline Business Men's Association seeks to make the city a trading center by opening Seventh and Thirteenth streets to Colona road and creating a market square. In Moline, concrete may replace brick in alleys after a Richmond, Ind. inspection. Improvements are projected to total about 114 thousand dollars, with major sewer and water work in Sixth ward and several paving contracts awarded to C A Berglund & Co and Tri-city Construction company.
