A disastrous blaze in Chelsea, Massachusetts, a Boston suburb, caused an estimated five million dollars in damage and left about ten thousand people homeless. Relief funds are being organized locally with affirmation that all needed money will be raised within the state.
A massive Chelsea blaze destroyed hundreds of buildings and left about 10,000 people homeless. Property losses cited at around 5 million dollars with multiple churches and notable structures razed. Roosevelt era relief efforts mobilized as the city seeks aid from state and federal levels.
The Helen Blair completed a 1,660 mile down river cruise via the Mississippi Ohio and Tennessee returning about 11 am after 26 hours delay from a sand bar near Quincy. Excursionists praised the trip. Keokuk and other raft boats were seen returning up river. Rutledge sold to Fountain City for upcoming season.

Acheson is defeated by John Tener with Penrose likely supported by most assembly candidates.
Governor Hughes won the statewide GOP endorsement for president at the New York convention held Saturday. Delegates to the Chicago national convention were instructed to support his nomination. A minority report by Edgar T. Brackett argued for a broader endorsement and continued effort for Hughes’s nomination, sparking heated debate before the majority report was adopted. The platform praised Roosevelt and Hughes, with tariff and currency planks calling for protection to American industry.
The Tulsa interstate train carrying 140 representative citizens departs Tulsa for Springfield Missouri on a tour described as the most extensive by a midwest commercial body. The trip features on board printing, a Tulsa Daily Courier edition at each stop, and a photo exhibit of farms and minerals. A reception awaits at each city including Washington where President Roosevelt will host, aiming to study urban conditions for educational purposes. the train will also visit Rock Island on April 27.
New York report states the Independence party will convene in Chicago in the latter part of July with date to be set by the national committee. The plan follows Democratic and Republican conventions to align nominations. State committees are already formed in 24 states with local organizations established.
Boston April 13 A wage reduction averaging 10 per cent went into effect today in the cotton cloth yarn and thread mills in New England and New York state employing a total of 43 600 operatives Since March the general wage cut has affected 153 500 mill hands in the northern states.

He urged connecting rivers lakes and every navigable water to ship lake boats to the gulf and coast, proposing a deep canal from the lakes to the Mississippi and thence to the gulf. Lombard College figures Dr Rich and Prof Kimball also spoke on educational matters with music by Raymond Newton and Jana B L Philbrook.
