Cadillac of rice boats awaits final touches in shop
A local firm, Kenco Industries of Roblin, introduced a stainless steel wild rice harvester bearing serial 00001. Built over eight weeks, the vessel features an eight meter header, two ten meter pontoons, an eight point eight litre Ford V six engine, and rudder directed airflow. Markosky projects four week production and claims the unit can harvest as much in an hour as conventional methods do in a week. Manitoba wild rice harvest for 1989 is estimated at 454000 kg.
