Since 1939 Canadian provinces enabled credit unions to incorporate the number of these cooperatives tripled and membership quintupled while assets rose tenfold. By 1947 there were 2,546 credit unions with 775,129 members and 220.5 million dollars in assets. The report notes $34.8 million in shares and $174.1 million in deposits, with 80.2 million lent among members.
