Civil air freighters from Britain and European Airways sustain a massive Berlin relief effort. A fleet of 28 transport planes with double crews will grow to 41 within days. By Sept 25 civil aircraft had moved 16 million pounds of supplies to Berlin including 1,700 tons of coal and nearly 500 000 gallons of gas.
Helen Elizabeth Ann Ward became the bride of Pte Howard Richard Keats at the United Church Manse in Dauphin on October 14. The couple is the daughter of Fred and Mrs Ward and the groom is the son of Tom and Mrs Keats. A powder blue dress and grey dressmaker outfits were worn by the wedding party. Best man was Fred Keats, brother of the groom, and a buffet lunch followed the ceremony with a 10 PM reception.
A celebration for the happy couple was held at Spruce Bluff Community Hall where many lovely presents were exchanged, marking a festive community gathering.
