Ada Joan Cockerill and Cecil Albert Peats wed at United Church Roblin Manitoba on Thursday afternoon Rev Ross Williams officiated. The bride wore a full length gown of nylon overlaid with lace and carried American Beauty roses. Attendants included Nettie Cockerill as maid of honor and Donald Peats as best man with ushers and page boys from both families. A reception followed at Roblin Memorial hall. Marion Baeh Wins Spelling Contest in Goose Lake Final
Eleven contestants competed at the Collegiate Auditorium on Friday October 21 with Marion Bach and Betty Boyce reaching the final elimination. Betty’s disqualification on a technicality handed Bach the win and both received winner’s ribbons and prizes. Bach advances to divisional semi finals October 27 in Grandview Manitoba.

Windecker couple marked Golden Wedding at Roblin church
Mr and Mrs Rudolph Windecker of Roblin celebrated their golden wedding on October 17 1960. United Church Ladies Aid Meeting at Mrs Sangster Home
The Knox United Church Ladies Aid met at Mrs. Adam Sangster’s home with fourteen members and two visitors. A donation to United Church Home for Senior Citizens at Pilot Mound was approved and half the vacuum cleaner cost would be paid by the Evening Guild. Meeting adjourned with prayers and a social lunch. The November meeting is set for Mrs. T. H. Taylor’s home on Nov 3 at 2 30 p.m.

The Makaroff Ladies Aid sponsored an enjoyable evening in the Mak aroff hall on Friday October 21. A sewing knitting and crochet display, home produce table, and cake weight contest drew a large crowd. The concert featured Makaroff Glee Club Fariel Wilson Eileen Traub and Roblin Choir conducted by Mr Calvert with two songs by Calvert. The event closed with lunch and social time despite snow on Deepdale hill.

Balewich Rites Held At Shortdale For Polish Born Farmer
Funeral services for Mariam Balewich of Shortdale Manitoba were conducted Thursday October 20 at 11 am in Shortdale Roman Catholic Church. He died October 17 1960 after a long illness at 73. Interment followed at Shortdale Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike and Felix Gereliuk Walter Pachkowski Stanley Konchowski Chris Trilinski and Mike Trilinski. Born in Poland he came to Canada in 1908 settling at Shortdale working briefly for CNR before farming until 1957. He married Pauline Geryluk in Shortdale in 1912 and was a Roman Catholic. Survived by wife Pauline and sisters Lena in Poland and Mary in Chicago Illinois.
