Intermountain Teachers Hold 24th Annual Convention in Grandview
The Intermountain Teachers Association concluded its 24th annual convention in Grandview on October 6 and 7 with welcome addresses from city and school leaders. Speakers covered primary methods, arithmetic problem solving, physical education, classroom art, library use, and social studies, followed by a luncheon, dances, and a session on teaching composition. The October meeting of the Makaroff Women’s Institute at Mrs Traub’s home drew nine members and three visitors. President Mrs G Pound chaired as members shared what they liked about country, sang, and reviewed minutes and finances. They planned donations to the March of Dimes and Young Canada Book Week, sent rummage sale leftovers to the Salvation Army, discussed the Salaba Competition, and planned November card parties and the annual meeting on November 10 at Mrs James Arnott’s home.

Owl band found on horned owl by hunter in October
Jerry McLure of Bield shot a horned owl with a .22 on Tuesday morning October 18. The owl bore Washington DC band No. 508-08195 and McLure notified the U S Fish and Wildlife Service. Also a strange tomato grew like a duck shell. The area turned very cold with the first taste of winter.
