Morrison Golden Wedding marked with Open House in Grainsby
Mr and Mrs Archie Morrison celebrated fifty years of marriage with an Open House on Sunday October 23 in Grainsby. Relatives from Birch River Minnedosa Strathclair Eriksdale and other towns joined at the home of their son Earl for a gala dinner and lunch, a three tier cake and bouquets. On October 2 seven Roblin U C W L members and two delegates Mrs W Lupichuk and Mrs Ross Kozak attended a regional fall convention in Dauphin led by Miss Slobodzian. Speakers included Dominion President Dr Stephania Potoski Provincial President Mrs Hunchak and Secretary Mrs Ellice. The event emphasized Ukrainian language in schools and homes. A Rosary and Mass followed with 130 members receiving the Holy Sacrament and a turkey banquet concluded the evening.

Hay, a former assistant in Roblin and Minnedosa, assumed charge October 1. The Minnedosa district includes Minto Clanwilliam Saskatchewan Odanah Harrison and part of Consol. Hay, a University of Manitoba agriculture graduate, hails from Foxwarren and was active in 4H and the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists. Grace Burrell and Lynn Bakken won spots to Division finals. After a week of campaigning the Goose Lake school held elections on October 24 with fourteen candidates. Two parties The Hexagons and The Fireballs competed. Hexagons won a majority.
