Mr Forsyth worked this district for the Soldier Settlement Board last week. Threshing reopens but grain remains tough. Mrs Merrell left for Riv Man due to sister-in-law illness. Wred Drinkwater builds a barn for stock and plans to move to the village. Mr Merrell, school principal, introduces club swings for pupils as a healthful exercise. Union Ladies Aid postponed meeting at Mrs Currey’s home due to threshing duties.
Miss Ethel Allen returns from Winnipeg as D Foggy visits Ramsack. Beth Thomsen accepts a position with Togo Trading Co. Mr Jas Fong of Cabinet Hotel, and others are mentioned. Armistice Day service led by Comrade President Stanley at All Saints Church on Sunday at 10:30 am. Harvest Home Supper planned for Halloween, canal events and a ministerial visit by Rev J W Rayner.
The community extends a hearty welcome to Rev J W Rayner and family new in charge of the field. Merc S B K Rogers had appendicitis surgery in Winnipeg and is recovering favorably. An ordination and induction service is planned for Wednesday evening October 20, with possible postponement and updates at all three services.
Threshing is near completion in this district thanks to fine weather. The Union Church Ladies Aid Bazaar is planned for November 4 at the church. Mr and Mrs M Law formerly of this district now live in Vancouver BC report a baby born October st Congratulations are extended. Also, excitement arose Saturday when the local mail carrier Mr T F Bryan had a runaway incident as his horses shyed during rounds.
Congratulations to Mr and Ars W Sangster on the birth of a son marked on the sixteenth. The Dramatic Society plans winter programs while threshing finishes. Attendance at Friday’s hall dance was small due to threshing, but participants enjoyed themselves. The UFM ladies prepared a quilt for a Sale of Work on October 31 at the hall. Rain disrupted services and Sunday School. sunny Sunday brought many to Mr Wraver’s sermon. Frank Mills returned from Grenfell by buggy, reporting drier roads north. A.C. McKnight was injured during hall repairs but recovering. UFM ladies hosted Mrs Fred Lester’s birthday dinner on the 8th. The UFM general meeting, postponed by wet weather, met on Tuesday the 14th with visitors and nominations for the Dauphin District Convention.
The Deepdale Ladies Aid hosts its annual Vow Supper and Concert on Monday November 4 admission for adults 3e and children 16c. Everyone is welcome.
