Horses are fed a daily ration of one pound mixed hay one pound oat straw and one pound carrots or swedes per 100 pounds of body weight, with gradual reduction of work from November 1 to November 18 and placement in box stalls. By spring they gain weight and energy as routines steadily shift from rest to lighter harness use by May.
Mr A E Taylor and Mr Geo Swain visited Winnipeg on business last week. Mr and Mrs Clawde Burt of Mikado called on Sunday. John and Robert Peddie of Russell stayed in the district for several days. Mrs Ho McConnell returned from Winnipeg. Natannis Tripp left for Montreal on Monday to visit her sister. Dave Jones returned to Winnipeg after visiting his brothers. A large number attended the United Church service led by Superintendent Mrs Austin.
Archie McCorquindate died Saturday noon while en route to Roblin. Born in Bruce County Ontario 75 years ago he came west to Morden then Grandview before twenty years in Deepdale district. He leaves a large family across Canada including James in Okanagan Jack in Chilliwack Orton in Makaroff Eddie Colon and Lloyd in Saskatoon and several daughters. Burial was in Dauphin Manitoba on Monday.
Cromarty and area locals share news of visits and gatherings. Dixon Bros purchase a big truck for Winni peg, Mrs Baskerville hosts friends, and families from Grandview and Lenore Man visit Cromarty residents. A dance is planned October 10 under Cromarty W I, with a 50 cent admission, and the Cromarty Women’s Institute met October 2 with papers on current events and world peace. A note corrects a price typo in a Western Chain Store ad for women's wool gloves.

Threshing in this district is at habt over Mr Issac Faulconer Jr has moved into his new house on the farm. Shortdale folks welcome the road to the highway under construction. A large shipment of cattle left Shortdale Saturday. The Win family plans to leave on Tuesday for their new home in Peace River district.
Missy Ethel Burrell spent time with her sister in Edna and Mickey returned to Alva. Mr A C McKnight and Albert Johnson are mentioned in varied visits and health notes. The UFM annual meeting October 3 was well attended with new officers elected led by President J Dixon and Vice President Mrs T Burra.
Services listed for Silverwood and Roblin churches with morning evening times. Baptismal service scheduled in Roblin and various regional reminders include Harvest Festival Sale Merridale and AVI school service.
Roblin reopens kindergarten October 15 and a chicken supper by the Ladies Aid postponed to October 22. Harvest Ball at the school assembly hall October 17 at 9 pm with 50-cent admission. lunch provided. Local fund caution urges keeping money in town. Ninth Masonic District official visit by Mr McDonald of Gilbert Plains to Roblin Lodge followed by supper and smoker. Roblin High School track meet at Yorkton and Dauphin yielded three third prizes and notable performances by Wright and Robertson in distance events.
The Brandon Manitoba sheep and swine sale, set for October 16, 1930, will feature about 150 rams, 200 ewes, and 30 boars. Graders report a larger number of high quality animals, with no set prices and by-bidding not allowed. Buyers are advised to arrive early to inspect offerings and select a preferred lot.
