Mrs. Pets Bancart reports Mr Stanley Irvine has returned from Gauil Ontario after two months with his son Tom and relatives. Tom Irvine’s wife joined him for a few months. The Koroluk and Bangle families visited Mike Hydyn in Wapella, Sask. Hilar Adam Rumak and Pine River guests visited Pete Ostart’s home. Richard Klassen and Donna spent the weekend in Winnipeg. Don Irvine returned from Werburn Sask. Congratulations to Frank Malashewski and wife on their baby boy born November 26. Nettie Wallace hosted Gordon Irvine and Tom Irvine in Roblin.

Keith Alexander Receives Conservative Nomination

The Roblin Progressive Conservative Association held its nominating convention at Roblin Memorial Hall on Tuesday November 27 at 8 pm with about 150 attendees. Mr Neith Alexander was again nominated to contest the Roblin riding for the Conservative Party. Alexander spoke after the unanimous nomination as the Hon. George Hutton, Minister of Agriculture, addressed the meeting.

Chamber May Disband Due To Non-Support

The Roblin and District Chamber of Commerce annual meeting was set for Tuesday evening November 28 at 8 p.m. but with only 12 members present the election of officers was postponed to the January 29 meeting due to low turnout.

Ag Rep Urges Shelterbelts And Community Action

In the Ag Rep district 28 diesel tractors with bulldozers clear land and shape the countryside every year. Farmers plan field shelterbelts to combat drifting snow and protect farmsteads as costs for seedlings are modest. A local farmer praised willow belts, while committees discuss improving Roblin’s Chamber of Commerce and dental service, urging renewed public support and a safety vault at the Royal Bank.

Roburn Collegiate Institute vows card drive and clubs

Exams began Wednesday November 28 at Roburn Collegiate Institute. The student council introduces student cards to access campus activities. A Glee Club slate was elected under Mrs Perchaluk with officers including President Marlene Choropita and Vice President Sandra Yeo See. Volleyball teams are forming with noon games in the gym. Three Man CBC Group to Tour German Republic

Mr Norman DePoe of English Networks News Service and Mr Wayne Kines of Information Service join a three man CBC delegation invited by the Ambassador for a two week study tour of the Federal Republic of Germany starting December 8. The visit includes examining external aid and relations with German broadcasting firms. Mrs J van Drecht and Reg attended the van Drecht-Belcourt wedding in St Eustache on Saturday November 24.

The Goose Lake School District seeks to open an Opportunity Class to provide individualized instruction for students needing extra help in one or two subjects. The board has applied to the Department of Education and will arrange testing with specially trained staff. parents will be notified after tests.

Mel and Bernice Keeble formerly of Roblin completed a twenty month Bible instruction and management course at Watchtower Bible School of Gilead in New York City. The 103 graduates from 32 nations will be deployed to 62 lands, with the Keebles headed to Thailand on a special assignment.

Town Council Meeting Held Thursday Nov 8 Roblin

The Roblin Town Council held its regular meeting on Thursday with Mayor F A Newton and councillors in attendance. Accounts totaling 3 267 37 for General Water and Sewer and Construction were approved. A December 18 Court of Revision for Real Estate was set and a building project for an lift station was discussed with engineers Haddin Davis and Brown. Grants applications for Windsor Avenue and Sixth Avenue were requested from Public Works. By Law 553 to close part of a Dominion road was to be passed. Water and sewer digging will be charged at 1 15 per foot. Building permit for Walter Livingstone approved. Meeting adjourned with next session December 13 at 8 p m.

Hillsburg Council Minutes Report November 7 Meeting

Hillsburg Municipal Council met in its office with Reeve John Perchaluk Jr. presiding. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. The council reviewed assessments and approved various sufficiency adjustments and municipal requests, including lighting, snow plowing grants, equipment rental, a 20 year parcel lease for a river crossing, and hunting permits. Members and secretary to attend the Winnipeg Municipal Convention with per diem. Accounts totaling $8349.08 were approved.
