Roblin Parkland Festival Set For March 2 3 4 1966

At a general meeting held in the Intermediate School on Nov 9 last year's executive reported a successful year and elected officers for 1965 68. The festival committee seeks trophy or scholarship donations and teachers are selecting test pieces with the syllabus to be distributed by mid December.

Roblin's Fair Date Set For July 28th

The Roblin Agricultural Society held its annual meeting on November 2 1865 naming Stewart Simpson president for 1866 and adding new directors. The group decided Mid-West Shows would be hired for the 1983 Roblin fair. A carload attended the Northern District conference in Gilbert Plains October 25 discussing liability insurance prize lists and fair dates. Roblin's Fair will be held on July 28 1966.

A public meeting on October 28 at Roblin Memorial Hall outlined the Town of Roblin Planning Scheme 1865. About 40 attendees heard Mr H. Boughton explain aims, zoning districts, and how alterations require preexisting property lines while allowing limited expansions.

Horticultural Society Holds Annual Meeting and Awards

About 48 members gathered in the Intermediates school auditorium for the Horticultural Society annual meeting. A pot luck supper preceded trophy presentations for Home Grounds competitions and a year in review. Officers for 1966 were named including President P Nowosad and Vice President C Tummon.

Remembrance Day Service Draws Roblin Students and Legion

About 650 students from grades 3 to 12 joined staff and Legion members in Roblin Collegiate auditorium for Remembrance Day 21. The service featured colour procession, hymns, readings, the two minute silence, and wreaths placed at the cenotaph by Legion and auxiliary leaders and local organizations.

David Sage of the University of Manitoba spent the weekend at his parents home. Judy Mislan of Winnipeg won six cans of Carnation milk on CKOS-TV Top of the Morning. Stewart Mitchell and boys of Flin Flon visited his mother. J Cooper of Maryfield Sask spent the Nov 6 weekend with his son and daughter in law George and Mrs. Cooper. Cooper family joined by Mrs. G Cooper visiting Fairlight with her mother Mrs. Miner. Gerald Zimmer Heads Tummel 4-H Calf Club

The Tummel 4-H Beef Club’s re organization meeting was held at Tummel School on Monday November 15 with two teachers and seven members present. Officers elected include President Gerald Zimmer Vice President Donnie Case Secretary Gary Buick Treasurer Tom McCrea Reporter Mary McCrea. Mr Boughton outlined the Shriners offer to purchase calves. Plans include a card party and bingo in November and a follow up meeting on Monday December 13 at the school. New members are welcome.

Legion Auxiliary Meeting Held Tuesday November 9

The Ladies' Auxiliary of Royal Canadian Legion Roblin Branch No. 24 met in Memorial Hall on November 9 at 8 p.m. with 32 members present. Donations were given to St John Ambulance and the Soldiers Christmas Tree Fund. reports covered Peace Gardens students and Poppy events. New officers elected included Miss Barbara Steffler as president and Iris Shepherd as 1st vice president. secretary Gwen Pritchard was re-elected. other executives named with roles in Welfare Ways and Means and Social. Shell River council approves grants and bylaw item in Nov meeting

The Shell River Municipal Council met November 3 with Reeve F. H. Wilson chairing. It adopted minutes from October meetings, approved October accounts totaling 14 614.28, accepted Roll 2A taxes at 75.00, recommended a 200.00 municipal grant for 1966 to match a federal grant for the Roblin Band, and discussed a first reading to dissolve Deepdale No. 2101 School District transferring lands to Goose Lake No. 1283. A coyote control program and convention attendance allowances were approved, with Dec 1 meeting planned after tax sale.
