Remembrance Day Service Held In Roblin Memorial Hall

Remembrance Day services were held in Roblin Memorial Hall on Friday November 11 at 10 45 am. The Canadian Legion Roblin Branch No 24 arranged the event with Rev. Ross Williams officiating. Community Chair under Mr Peter Calvert attended as wreaths were laid at the Cenotaph.

Wedding Blessing seals Rody Dayson union in Grandview

Kath leen Maurie Rody and Wray Edward Dayson wed at Grandview United Church on October 16, 1960. Officiant Rev Fulford led the service with Miss Reita Brothers as soloist. The couple planned a honeymoon to Fort Frances and U S points before settling in Thompson Manitoba.

William Menzal 58 Deepdale farmer Ukrainian Catholic

Graveside services were held Monday October 24 at Zelena cemetery for William Menzal of Deepdale Manitoba who died October 15 1960 at Silverwood aged 58. Born in Ukraine he came to Zelena Deepdale in 1911 and farmed until death. Survived by wife Anna, son William Roblin, daughter Tillie Roblin, brothers Peter Zelena Tom Roblin, sister Mary Serednik Regina and four grandchildren.

Tummel Club Elects Officers At October 31 Meeting

The Tummel Beef Calf Club reorganized on October 31 electing Gerald Brook as President Albert Bodnaruk as Vice President Bruce Case as Secretary Brian Mitchell as Treasurer Robert Mitchell as News Reporter and appointing Albert Bodnaruk and Robert Mitchell as Junior Leaders. Leaders Mr Livingston and Mr Brook were asked to continue. Mr Boughton presented slides and spoke briefly on £ H in general.

Goose Lake Collegiate Remembrance Day Service Recapped

Goose Lake Collegiate Institute held a Remembrance Day Service in the school auditorium on Friday November 11. Principal Prefontaine led the event with an advance of colours by Ernie Mortimore and Gordon Pumtch followed by readings, hymns, a Bible verse, and a keynote address by MLA Keith Alexander. The student council wreaths were placed at the cenotaph and community service attendees joined in the two minutes of silence and postlude.

Public Speaking Finals Held At Togo Sask

Public Speaking finals in Togo Saskatchewan drew judges from Kam sask Collegiate and Kamsack Junior High as teachers and local officials announced winners. Group I Sherry Becking Runny dale school won with Mona Leung runner up from Togo, Group II Janis Hern of Togo ahead of Diane Leis Runny dale school, Group IV Linda Pister Togo with Debra Chernoff Runny dale school as runner up, Aber crombie trophy awarded to Linda Pister.

Winter Works Plans Nearing 1959 Total

Manitoba minister of labour reports 89 municipal winter works projects approved within 25 days of scheme start, with 80 federally approved and nine awaiting Ottawa. Projects total over 3 million dollars, many outside Winnipeg, including roads, culverts, sidewalks, sewers and watermains, with more to come.

Ladies' Auxiliary Elects Officers at November Meeting

The Ladies' Auxiliary met Tuesday November 8 at 8 p.m. with 23 members present. Officers for the next year were elected including President Mrs D Hutchison and 1st Vice President Mrs Sanders. A lunch was served. The December meeting is set for December 13.

Holy Redeemer Church Under Construction in Roblin

On October 25 1960 Holy Redeemer Church of Roblin Manitoba signed a building contract with Matheson Construction Ltd of Yorkton Saskatchewan. The church will sit on the south side of St Vladimir's College and is to be completed by April 1 1961. Architects are Schaefer Plumton and Nipper of Winnipeg Manitoba.

Cromarty Community Committee Plans Xmas Entertainment

The Cromarty Community Committee held its second meeting on October 20. The hall will be divided into four sections for entertainment during the Annual Xmas Tree with Mrs. Reita Watson in charge. The group thanks volunteers for painting and repairing the hall and for lunch donations and service.

The Rob lin Horticultural Society held its November 12 annual meeting at the Shell River Municipal office with strong turnout. Officers elected include President George Kelso and Vice-President Mrs Peter Nowosad, Secretary-Treasurer Mrs Geo Laird, plus directors Robi Arnott Burke McNiel Mrs A Wilson Mrs T H Taylor W J Ward P Bugera and Miss Emma McDonald. Julie Mitchell Elected To Head Ladies Curling Club

Julie Mitchell elected president of the Ladies Curling Club at the town office meeting on November 9. Officers include Honorary President Mrs Lawrence, Vice-President Mable Craig, Treasurer Sadie Maguire, Secretary Vera Dillin, and executives Millie Misener Maggie Cameron Stella Peteleski plus committees M Souter V Leach and M Sorbo D Bowley. District chairwoman Mitchell shared notes from the MLCA annual meeting in Winnipeg. playdowns for District A will be in Roblin with restrictions on associate members. Free Methodist W M L S Meeting Held November 4

On November 4 the Free Methodist WMLS met at Mrs. Myrtle Bailey's home. Ten members attended, reading for the past month, with the Benevolent report given. A prayer circle was formed and gifts for the Broadview Mission Christmas parcel were requested for the December meeting. Lunch followed.

The Makaroff W I held its regular and annual meeting on November 10 at Mrs Jas Arnott s home. Nine members and three visitors contributed to a Bring and Buy sale. Plans included attending Robtin for a fabric demonstration by Miss Batho and nominations for officers.

Sixteen Ladies Attend Tummel Ladies Club Meeting

The Tummel Ladies' Club held its October meeting at Mrs. Ray Buick's home with nine members and seven visitors. Highlights included a cinnamon bun rolling demonstration by Mrs. C. McArthur, lunch, reports on Hospital Aid and Rest room meetings, and planning for a card party. Final luncheon was served by Velma Buick, Jo Alexander, Rene McFayden, and Marion Buick.
