Rabies Prevention Urged After Local Calf Case

The Dropmore area reports a rabies positive calf case. Dr. John Troost and Dr. John Spicer led the investigation with Guelph Veterinary Laboratory, urging vaccination and preventive care for dogs and cats. Dr. Spicer will host three lunch hour TV programs on rabies December 4, 5 and 7, featuring film from Guelph.

The University of Manitoba Soil Testing Service raises nitrogen recommendations across crops. Maximum remains 60 pounds, but categories needing it have expanded. for 0-21 pounds of soil nitrogen 60 pounds now advised for oats wheat barley sunflowers corn buckwheat and flax.

Weekend Visiting at H Wilson and Murray Homes

Visitors traveled to the H Wilson residence including Gerald Wilson and family from Flin Flon, Ken Wilson of Saskatoon, E Branconnier and family with Ron and Owen Wilson of Winnipeg, and Orville Wilson with Everett and Mrs H Wilson Sr of Roblin. Oliford Radford returned from Winnipeg. Deepdale Ladies Aid Meeting Plans Bazaar and Next Session

The Deepdale Ladies Aid met November 8 at Mrs C McKenzie’s home with nine members present. President Mrs C Ayer led prayers and scripture as a $57.24 balance was reported. invitations were read and a spring 1968 bazaar tea bake sale and elephant event were proposed weather permitting. The next gathering is December 13 at Mrs Art McIntyre’s home.

At a Tuesday meeting the Roblin Hospital Auxiliary plans purchasing new short draw drapes and tracks for eight new double T windows on the south side. They reported ongoing bursaries and a $10 donation to a hospital volunteer alliance.

Remembrance Day Service at Roblin Collegiate 1967

The Interfaith Remembrance Day Service was held November 11 1967 in Robblin Collegiate Auditorium at 10 am with Legion color party and Roblin Clergy. Ottawa speaker Mr Tom Kines discussed the Fourth World War and Remembrance’s purpose for preventing future wars. Wreaths were laid at the Cenotaph and prizes awarded to essay contest winners Barbara Steffler and David De Haas.

Memorial Service by Roblin Rebekah Lodge Past Noble Grands

Roblin Rebekah Lodge No. 41 held a memorial service for departed sisters led by sixteen Past Noble Grands in white robes under Sister H. Ford. The charter was draped for sixty days in memory of Sisters Lawrence and Kelso, with a dove dedication for Sister Law, and Elizabeth Bruce sang solo. A Remembrance Day service on November 9 honored World War I and II veterans with readings by Sisters Ritchie and Ford and two minutes of silence.
