Roblin District Centennial Project Approved for New Complex

Roblin forms Centennial Celebration Committee for 1970 plans

At a special October 29 meeting in Memorial Hall Roblin council appointed a committee to outline Roblin and District celebrations for Manitoba’s 100th birthday in 1970. Mayor George Giles chaired as about 200 attendees heard names of nominees and saw plans for a Recreational Complex. funds to be raised, project to be built in stages if needed.

Roblin Figure Skating Club Faces Season Uncertainty

The Roblin Figure Skating Club held a sparsely attended meeting on November 1 at the Roblin Town Office. With only executives and two mothers present, no plans could be set for the season, but instructor Kathy Kostuchuk may return after last year’s success. Mr and Mrs Moses Laliberte Honored At Retirement Social

A surprise retirement social in Makaroff Hall marked the end of Moses and Dorothy Laliberte’s tenure as managers of the San Clara Cote Community Pastures, begun in 1959. The event featured a corsage and boutonniere, music by the San Clara Orchestra, family arrivals from Manitoba and San Clara, and gifts including swivel rocker chairs and money.

Agricultural District Conference at Rossburn Proves Successful

Twelve Roblin Agricultural Society members traveled to Rossburn Manitoba for the District Conference of Agricultural Societies on October 28. W S May chaired and called it the largest conference to date. Dr. K. S. Jones will work with Drs. Layng and Paul starting November 7 1969 in Roblin. Mrs. Jones, married with two children, trained in Calcutta and has held posts in England and Scotland. She specializes in women's diseases with obstetrics and gynecology focus.

4 H Opens New Season In Roblin

Roblin Happy Homemakers opened their season with 28 members at the United Church Basement on October 23. Elections chose Melinda Turner as president and Veronica Kozak as vice president, with Dot tie Kozak secretary, Cathy Hawryluk treasurer, and Veronica Bilous reporter. Meetings set for the first Thursday each month at 7 pm. a meeting place is not yet fixed. P S leaders are urgently needed.
