Roblin Band Finishes Second At Moose Jaw Parade

The Roblin Community Youth Band with Majorettes and chaperones traveled by Intermountain School Bus to Caronport for a Moose Jaw Hotels Association competition at Central Collegiate. Adjudicator Douglas V Start rated Roblin second with 81 points, while Rose town band led with first. a Jubilee Night with Bobby Herriot capped the event before the return home.

BIELD Area Notices and Weekend Visitors Reported

Local residents and visitors frequent the Bield area with weekend trips to Winnipeg Eye Brow Brandon and Gabriel Island. Church services at Field United Church are scheduled for May 30 at 3 30 p m. Cleanup day planned at Bield cemetery on June 2 with volunteers urged.

Philippine Missionary To Speak At Field Free Methodist Church

Two carloads of Free Methodist youth attended the weekend Missionary Rally at Arlington Beach Camp on Last Mountain Lake with participants from Winnipeg Kindersley Weyburn Saskatoon. Rev Bidwell missionary to the Philippines spoke and will present slides in Field Free Methodist Church tonight at 8 p.m.

Roblin Home and School vote to continue for another year

The Roblin and District Home and School decided to persist for another year after a show of non support at meetings. The group promoted school safety programs like School Patrols and the Bicycle Safety Rodeo and donated to local causes including the Roblin Youth Band and Mental Health drives.

District completes 20000 trees planted in farm effort

Last week the district completed planting 20000 trees using a provincial tree planter machine at Jim Isaacs farm. Jim Radcliffe led the summer assistant team to finish the work quickly with strong farmer cooperation. The notice urges early orders for 1966 tree stock and mentions freight from Indian Head to Roblin as the cost.

Reverend Dixon Leads Roblin Overture Concert Group

A May 18 meeting formed the Roblin Overture Concert Association to carry on professional performances for the community. Elected to the executive were Rev Earl Dixon president Rev D G Stewart vice president Mrs J M Thom secretary Mrs Van Drecht campaign manager Paul Prefontaine publicity and Mrs P Nowosad social convener. A subscription campaign will start soon to recruit members and a hopeful season lies ahead.

Special Food Handling Course Offered in Birtle

The local Health Unit conducts a food handling course for interested persons on Monday May 31 at 9 am. Evening classes at 8 pm on May 31 and June 1 will be held at the United Church auditorium in Birtle. One hundred twenty one people have signed up. Attendees will receive special certificates.

Regina and Moose Jaw Band Festival attendance noted for R Shepherd and girls. Fay Lehmann now employed in Spy Hill after two years at Glenora. Rapid City family guests Mr and Mrs Keith Chase visited George Ricker’s home. Parkland Festival accompanists thanked with three names omitted Zenovia Horbay Janice Martin Beverley Ayer. Ronnie and Donnie Cross visited Ernie Symko’s home and Lawrence of Shortdale. Della Haberstock of Winnipeg spent weekend with George Ricker and others including Graham Mitchell Nora Cross and H Oli Eat Mrs L Simpson and Mrs chose Jaw on fedeing home Sunday.
