Roblin Youth Band Heads to Moose Jaw for Festival
The Roblin Community Youth Band led by majorettes marched from Roblin Collegiate to Heming's Jewellery for a concert directed by Archie Beach. They collected 74 dollars to help cover transportation to Moose Jaw for the Kinsmen International Band Festival, with thanks to Heming's Jewellery Roblin Forest Products and Const. M. McMahon for support and instruction.

4-H Calf Show Highlights Assiniboine and Bield Clubs
May 14 4-H members from Assiniboine and Bield Clubs competed at the farm show with judge Jim Ward of Tacoma. Prizes included Champion Steer Faye Digby Reserve Champion Vern Doole and multiple ribbons. The day also featured a Bield Skat e Rink display and lunch served by district ladies.

Festival crowns Grade 1 poetry and vocal talent across many events
The annual festival showcased Grade 1 poetry and primary speech choirs with ten trophy classes. Joan Fitzkowsky won the Vocal Solo for ages 9-15 with Tell Me Not of a Lovely Lass as adjudicators praised performers. The final concert drew a large audience and organizers seek trophy sponsors for remaining classes.

Roblin Horticultural Society Grows Lawn and Plans Peony Show
The Roblin Horticultural Society met May 15 in the Shell River Office with 22 members. Seeding of the lawn at the Senior Residences is completed and a Peony Show is planned for late June or early July with free entry open to all. The prize list was revised and Mrs. Chris Tommon won the draw. The next meeting is June 14 at 8 pm on the Nowosad lawn.

4 H Public Speaking Contest Held Wednesday
The 4H District Public Speaking Contest took place at the Intermediate School on May 12 with Madam Chairman Gwen Hilland and pianist Janice Martin. Eight Juniors and seven Seniors competed for a chance to represent Roblin district at Swan River on May 28 and Yorkton on June 12. Rodney McFadyen won senior first with Rod ney McFadyen also chosen for Inter-Provincial at Yorkton, Brenda Lemair led junior first.

The Roblin Town Council held its May meeting with all members present. It approved April and May minutes, paid general and water sewer accounts, and engaged Reid Crawthers for 1965 water and sewer extensions. A motion requests Manitoba to refund gasoline tax used in highway construction. Harry Maslove will serve on the Roblin Recreational Committee. Peteleski's gravel haul tender was accepted. T. Lobo's card reading license was rejected. Name changes will be recorded in the assessment roll.
