Community notices recount weddings showers and club events

A May 6 farewell for Mr and Mrs War Johnson opens a social round in Bield. Mrs Rice had surgery, the Baseball Club tested uniforms and beat Shortdale Falcons 204 in an exhibition. Births weddings and showers abound as Shiela Stewart and Lynette Olson are feted with gifts and a small trailer prize. Out of town guests and local groups attend the varied social calendar.

Frank Campbell Elected President Of Roblin Golf And Country Club

The Roblin Golf And Country Club held its April 30 meeting at the club house. Frank Campbell was elected president with Morgan Kelso as vice president and M. Rempel as secretary treasurer. Members approved a $5 annual dues increase and set June 18 and September 17 dates for the Spring and Fall tournaments. Green fees stay at $1.00 with member credits toward new memberships and a plan to hire a caretaker.

Centenary Memories Celebrated by Collegiate Students

The Collegiate students praised the Century of Memories program and the audience enjoyed the event. Resignation of editor Jim Bork saddened the crowd, though they hope to continue his work as they prepare for a track and field meet in Gilbert Plains.

Hospital Interior Painting Tenders Considered

Rob Yin District Hospital Board met to review finance payments totaling 5 452 55 and 790 for depreciation. They discussed painting program for the hospital including doors and jams and ordered parking signs for doctors and ambulance spaces. Tenders for garden tractor and painting contracts to be bid in May.

Roblin Hosts Centennial Weekend Sports Events

The Knights of Columbus stage a Double Tournament Fastball and Horseshoes on Sunday July 9 with cash prizes and trophies, proceeds aiding the Roblin Centennial project. On July 23 the Duck Mountain Game and Fish sponsors a Fish Derby at multiple lakes with trophies for largest fish, proceeds backing Roblin and District Centennial project.

Funeral services were held at St Claire Roman Catholic Church in San Clara Nan for Mrs Helen Stinson age 66 of Winnipeg who died May 13 1967 at Geneva Hospital. She moved to Winnipeg in 1957 from Boggy Creek. Survived by sons Gordon Mark Jack Willard Clifford and Robert and daughters Lillian Barbara Mildred Marion Dorothy. brothers Wm John George Jean. sister Mrs Frank Liliey. many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Centennial Classes To Perform Today In Roblin

Centennial classes perform at Roblin Collegiate today after Dauphin show canceled. Choirs from Grades 5 to 8, St Vladimir's College Boys' Choir, and Grade 3 4 students under several directors will compete for Brandon Provincial Finals. Adjudicator from Brandon will select the three advancing acts.

Jehovah's Witnesses Hold Dauphin Convention

The Roblin Congregation returned from a semi annual convention in Dauphin Manitoba attended by about 560 people. A film titled God Cannot Lie was shown on May 14 with three symbolizing dedication. Volunteers provided three hot meals daily and organized the assembly for attendees.

The Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Roblin held a May 9 meeting with 28 attendees to bless and dedicate the new parish hall kitchen completed since October 1965. A Last Supper picture and a Carrie Ratushny crucifix were installed, Rev. Michael Bzdel praised the group, and the league committed to supporting an overseas child through the Christian Children's Fund of Canada.

United Church Farewell for Alice Thom and Pritchard Family

The United Church congregation in Roblin held a farewell for Mrs. Alice Thom and the Evans Pritchard family as they depart to new homes in Haney British Columbia and Brandon Manitoba. The event featured thanks from Essie Cross and Harold Bongthon, plus gifts of mountain paintings. The afternoon unit of the U C W served lunch in the church lower hall.
