Cromarty 4 H Club Public Speaking Finals Held
The Cromarty 4H Club staged its public speaking finals in Cromarty Hall on May 2 with eleven speakers. Judges Mrs. C McCres and Mrs. S Simpson announced winners and a Roblin eliminations trip on May 12 was set for the top performers. A telephone whist event on April 20 drew five homes and Cromarty Hall. prizes awarded to several players. The club’s May 4 meeting at Cromarty Hall included plans for a Centennial banner and Rally Day. next gathering is June 1 with all executives present.

The itinerary included a Campbell Soup factory tour in Portage la Prairie, Polo Park, MGST open house tours, CBC studios, a Legislative Building tour with the Golden Boy and premier’s reception room, and a late night at the Y.M.C.A and Garrick Hotel.

Merridale 4-H Garden Club Meets May 7 at Jasper Home
The Merridale 4-H Garden Club held its second meeting of the year at Lorne Jasper's home on Sunday May 7 with eleven members and four visitors present. The group opened with the 4-H pledge and planned uniforms for the 4-H Rally. A future meeting was set for Rose Marie Boychuk's on May 26 at 2 p.m. A lunch was served and a game of prisoners base followed. Evelyn Soltys, Reporter.

Free Methodist WMS Holds Mother and Daughter Fellowship

Century of Memories captures Roblin Collegiate show
Roblin Collegiate staged A Century of Memories a May Friday night in the Collegiate auditorium. The program combined narration, song, dance, skits and era costumes to recount Canada's hundred years with performances by the Glee Club, various soloists and ensembles. The Roblin Collegiate auditorium hosted the Happy Homemakers 4H Achievement event on Monday May 8. Members displays showcased sewing crafts and project books with 33 red and 16 blue ribbons awarded though some marked incomplete for later judging.

Thank Offering Meeting by United Church Women
The United Church Women held a Thank Offering meeting on Tuesday evening April 25 in the church basement with Mrs McNicol in charge. Devotionals and slides on the early life of Indians and missionary work were presented. The group planned a May 12 wedding dinner and a Centennial project to buy a two way radio for Northern Indian settlements at about 10500. Baby sitting during services starts April 30 and new chimes records will be purchased. Next general meeting is June 24 with the afternoon unit in charge.

Intermountain School Board Reports April Activities
The Intermountain School Division Board met regularly with three meetings and several committees in April. Plans for next year focus on graded elementary schooling and temporary facilities, with Halton Makaroff and Dropmore preserved. Walker and Grand Prairie to operate Grades 1–6. Building progress includes Gilbert Plains site approval, Grandview new elementary school with May 4 architect meeting, and Goose Lake relocation. A division boundary coterminous with Gilbert Plains RM was requested, bus routes are being surveyed, and 15 new buses are sought. Office space needs in Grandview prompt possibilities of a leased administration building by a syndicate. H Dunn, Gilbert Plains Principal, resigned to Alberta. a successor search underway. Salary talks with teachers show substantial progress.

Rural Municipality of Shell River held its regular meeting with Reeve F H Wilson presiding. Minutes from April 5 were approved, accounts totaling 4160.16 were passed, a bylaw to sell land to Helen Kyle was approved, and a road opening bylaw was passed. Makaroff hall to be leased for 99 years at 1 dollar yearly, and 1250 dollar grant approved for Dauphin St Pauls nursing home. Next meeting June 7 at 1 30 with revision of electors roll. Delegations from Recreation Roblin Hall and Makaroff Hall committees attended.
