Shell River W L Meeting at Mrs Fowler's April session

The Shell River Institute met at Mrs. Florence Fowler's home on April 2 with President Marg Wattson presiding. Nine members answered roll call, minutes were approved, and correspondence reviewed. A sick basket was sent, pennies collected for the friendship fund, and reports on the board meeting and a Russell workshop were shared. Delegates were chosen for Foxwarren convention.

Convictions Rise in Court Window of 1967 Four Months

January to April 1967 court activity slowed slightly from prior months with twenty six total convictions. Individuals named include Arthur Boswell Roblin $29.00 license suspended and John H McKay Valley River $31.50 license suspended under the Criminal Code. Several fined under the Liquor Control Act and Highway Traffic Act with varied sums and addresses. Three charged under Town By law and five juveniles convicted under HLTA.

Roblin Youth Band Spring Concert Draws Fair Turnout

Roblin Community Youth Band under Archie Beach presented a varied program at the Spring Concert on Friday April 28. Rev Paul Borchardt presided and majorettes entertained as the audience heard selections from Mars, modern tunes, novelty numbers and patriotic pieces. The event included intermission remarks by Allan Martin and a tile mosaic raffle to aid the band with several future engagements listed.

Century of Memories at Roblin Collegiate Friday

Roblin Collegiate students present Century of Memories at the school auditorium on Friday May 5 starting at 8 pm. The program features dance singing exits and fashions from the past century with teacher help and many period outfits donated by the public and wider community.

A large crowd attended the Centennial Tea hosted by the Makaroff Women's Institute at the Makaroff Community Hall on a recent Saturday evening. Members wore Centennial gowns and offered a home produce table with baking, pickles, jams, and jellies for sale. A raffle and Centennial spoons display accompanied the event, with the draw scheduled for May 10 at the Grandmothers' social.

Jehovahs Witnesses Hold Dauphin Assembly May 12 14 1967

Witnesses from ten congregations in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan gather at Dauphin Memorial Community Centre for a three day assembly led by Sigurd Olsen of Roblin. A color film God Cannot Lie will be shown May 14 at 3:00 p.m. Baptisms are planned for Saturday afternoon. Free admission and open to the public.

Deepdale 4H Club Holds April Meeting at Doering Home

Deepdale Clovers 4H held its second meeting of the year on Monday April 24 at Lawrence Doering's home. All members attended and seeds were distributed. Public speaking will be heard at the next meeting. Birthday song honored a member's parent. Lunch was served by Mrs Doering. The nest meeting is planned for May 8 at Leg's home.

Michelle Kines Fund Seeks Donations for Recovery

Safecrackers Hit Local Red and White Store

Early morning thieves blew the safe at the Red and White store, punching the dial and absconding with 9108.90 in cash. Local authorities were notified and investigating the burglary as a crime at the scene.

Horticultural Society Sets Prize Changes For August Show

The Roblin Horticultural Society held its April meeting with 18 members. President Nowosad chaired as prize list changes were announced for the August 25 show. Guests invited from Russell and Winnipeg Gladioli associations. May program to cover Peony Show planning.

Grand Narrows 4 H Meeting Sparks Harmon Oats Plan

On April 25 at 8 30 p m in Grand Narrows hall the Sod busters GH Club held its regular meeting. The Seed Club decided to grow Harmon oats this year and discussed public speaking. A committee was elected to plan this year s display. Ray and Herb Murray families served a delicious lunch. Next meeting set for May 10.
