Tourist Promotion Meeting Slated For Dauphin

Parkland Development Corp plans a Dauphin meeting for all regional Chambers of Commerce. General Manager Ron Kinney says the session will discuss circle tours information booths and a regional brochure to attract more tourists. He stresses timely planning and offers consultative help to members choosing Centennial projects.

Open House Showcases Roblin Intermediate School

Parents of pupils from Grades 4 to 8 visited the new Roblin Intermediate School on May 5 to tour displays in maths language arts social studies science and view student projects. About 430 parents attended as staff hosted lunch in the gymnasium auditorium and the official opening date is to be announced.

On April 11 1969 twenty three members of the Assiniboine Sonnettes 4-H Club from Rochdale and Dropmore toured Yorkton Saskatchewan. They visited Yorkton Regional High CJGX CROS SESS TV Yorkton Psychiatric Centre and Sacred Heart Academy then enjoyed dinner at A and W and shopping at County Fair.

Roblin Kinsmen Club announces sponsoring one high school student to the 7th Annual Kin-Hi Leadership Camp at Quetico Centre July 27 to August 9. The program aims to build democratic leadership and personal growth through two weeks of small group work, skill sessions, and outdoor activities involving youth ages 15 to 18.

Roblin Collegiate Awards Driver Education Class

Roblin Collegiate held its first driver training course offering 25 hours in class 8 hours in car observation and 8 hours behind the wheel. Eighteen of twenty students completed the course and passed the driving test earning certificates and trophies for top marks.

Fire department reports three calls in late April and early May

Roblin Fire Department answered three calls from April 30 to May 3. The first was at Frank Dayson's farm 30 miles northeast of Roblin where stubble burning drifted into a poplar bluff endangering two houses a barn and other buildings. The next call May 1 noon involved a hydro pole on 2nd Ave East. May 3 at 6 55 p m a grass fire east of 3rd Ave East confined to grass with an old barn remains burning.

Betty Paley installed as Honored Royal Lady of Roblin 0. O. R. P. on May 1 with District Deputy Mabel MacDonald and Lady Enid Parasuik officiating. Gilbert Plains Elementary opens after 1969 opening events

A capacity crowd of about 700 attended the official opening of Gilbert Plains Elementary School on April 25. The 36 classroom facility, cost about $22,600 per classroom, features science and special education rooms, a gym auditorium, library and multi purpose spaces.

Mr Manitoba To Speak At District Convention Here

Mr M J G McMullen Executive Director of the Manitoba Travel and Convention Association and former Manitoba Chambers of Commerce manager will be guest speaker at the Roblin Russell Womens Institute District Convention in Mid May. He received the 1963 Golden Boys Good Citizenship Award from the Lieutenant Governor and was named Mr Manitoba for his service. His travelogue Meeting the Challenge of Change in Community Life will interest those involved with plans for the Centennial next year.
