An evening banquet for the Save the Soil Campaign on March 10 featured Jack Parker from Winnipeg and J R Mitchell receiving top honors. Mitchell earned the high score cup and the Gate Sign Progress Award. 1954 seals were issued to Mitchell and H Bramwell. Alf Rice was named Wheat Champion with two duplicate cups, honoring his Roblin Seed Show wins in 1953 and 1954.

Deepdale Ladies Aid Holds Regular Meeting

The Deepdale Ladies Aid met at Mrs George Charman s on Wednesday March 9 with three visitors and ten members present. Arrangements for the postponed Tea on March 18 were arranged. Items for the Annual Fall Bazaar were prepared and priced. A devotion from St Johns Gospel followed. Tone Traveling Basket circulated. Meeting closed with Mizpah benediction. Lunch provided by the hostess. Next gathering set for April 13 at Mrs Purcell s.

Militia Soldiers Graduate From Basic Training in Manitoba

About 250 militiamen from Manitoba Saskatchewan and northwestern Ontario completed eight weeks in the regular army special basic training course at Minto Armories. Col W Clement Dick praised their parade, noting value to civilian life and leadership.
