Visitors Day at Roblin Primary School

About 260 parents visited Roblin Public School on Friday March 7 to view children’s books and projects. Volunteers including mothers assisted classrooms, enabling teachers to attend a workshop. posters were made and activities such as hot chocolate and skate tying were offered on occasion. Adult reading books on parenting and education were displayed and available on request.

Foxwarren Wins Snake Creek League Final Thriller

In a clutch meeting to decide the Snake Creek League title Foxwarren derailed Roblin with a 12 minute decider. Kostick scored the deciding goal after a 5 5 deadlock late in regulation. Hilland Doering Andres Daniels added goals as Foxwarren sealed top spot.

Roblin Kinsmen Mark International Relations Week

At the Roblin Kinsmen Club regular meeting Roger Patil spoke on India as part of International Relations Week. Eighteen members attended and heard Dr. Paul. Danny Kostick spoke on attending a Quetico leadership camp last summer sponsored by the local club.

Phyllis Ostrowski Crowned Queen of Hospital Aid Ice Carnival

Phyllis Ostrowski was crowned Queen of the Ice Carnival by Mr. Howard Wilson in Roblin on March 7. Margaret Davey and Linda Gardner were first and second princesses with Yorkton Club skaters as crown bearers. The event featured Roblin figure skaters and 45 Yorkton skaters, plus costume judging, a broom ball match, and greetings from Mayor George Giles and Hospital Aid president Mrs. Essie Cross. Proceeds benefit local hospital supplies.

Grandview School Div. adopts vertical administration plan

The Grandview School Division outlines starting September 1 1969 a vertical administration for Grandview Collegiate and Elementary Schools with Mr Mel F Graves as principal over both institutes. The move aims at continuity of subjects Grades I to XI and better teacher coordination. A March 20 Parents Night will review plans.

Province Boosts School Aid to Seventy Percent

Premier Walter Weir announced in the Legislature that provincial financial support to the school foundation program will rise to 70 percent from 65 percent. He also said unconditional municipal grants will increase from $3 per person to $8.

The Duck Mountain Game and Fish Bonspiel began Saturday night and ended Sunday with 16 rinks competing including visitors from Grandview Gilbert Plains and Inglis. Banquet at Orthodox Church basement featured prize presentations by Jim Ready. First Event winners were Wes Powell Mavis Ready Dwayne Sutton and Shirley Sutton. Second Event winners were Rudy Wowk Nat McKay Bruce Davis and Mrs Wowk.

Parents Night At Roblin Collegiate

The Roblin Collegiate hosts a community Parents Night on Thursday from 4 30 to 9 30 p m. Invitations go to enrolled students but any resident may tour the school. There are 15 minute teacher interviews and displays including new home economics and industrial arts, with educational films and a lunch provided.

Books are collected early May with drop-off at the Rest Room by end of March. Roblin Women's Institute packs them and Roblin Transfer collects at no charge. Roblin officials push for a north entrance and invite public input at the Review Office. The town studies street signs amid a house number survey.
