Roblin Auction Mart sold 416 head of livestock on Thursday February 25. Sales included 112 cattle 19 sows 4 d ors 42 weanlings 235 feeder pigs 3 horses and 1 goat. Prices ranged and varied by category with notes for butcher stock cows bulls and calves and several feeder and bred stock items.
Parkland Regional Development Inc will hold its third annual meeting at Old Town Hall Dauphin on Monday March 22 1971 from 2 until about 5 pm. Reports will be mailed to municipalities in advance and discussion is planned. Directors up for reelection come from Zones I VI, with observers invited including mayors, reavas and chamber executives. The corporation serves 10 000 square miles and moved offices to the Parkland Extension Centre during the past year.

The Vera Dillin rink won the Craig trophy in a round robin with Liz Bruce Gwen Staple and Jennifer Zorian among others. The club noted a successful telephone whist and thanked Harold Edel for ice upkeep as activities continued toward the March banquet.
Roblin Wee Pees and Pee Wee hockey squads opened with a 5 3 win for Roblin in Binscarth while the Wee Pees lost 2 1 to Binscarth. The clubs then went to St Lazare where Roblin tied 2 2 and St Lazare routed Roblin 8 0 as coaches Doering Bough ton Gervais praised helpers for transport.
A Roblin district update lists detailed arena costs including Roblin Forest Products lumber $26317.05 and Dominion Bridge steel $4549.58, totaling $142,944.33. Short on funds, residents are urged to donate $100 for shingles, with last week’s winner Mrs. Carol Nykolaishyn of Roblin.
At the Roblin District Planning Commission meeting on February 23 in Roblin, Harold Boughton was elected chairman with Edgar Mench and Sam Fitkowski as first and second vice chairs and Kay Black as secretary for 1971. New members Bill Burla and Fred Newton joined, replacing John Robartson and George Giles. Attendees from government departments discussed the master development plan, land use, soil testing, and water level management for the Shellmouth Reservoir area on the Assiniboine River, with planning notes on beach and cottage sites and potential crown land retention.
Pastor L W Koeppen attended a seminar in Brandon with Rev W Roszt, Montana State Hospital chaplain, focusing on tackling psychologically disturbed and troubled people. Topics included Gods Psychiatry, pastoral counselling, causes of nervous breakdown, and family issues. The talk emphasized worry as a major mental illness cause and urged seeking peace through God and scripture.
On parade Tuesday February 23, 37 cadets attended with four officers three instructors and six visitors. A new cadet arrived from Roblin and was fitted out for his first night. Instructors taught On Being an Air Cadet First Aid Navigation Citizenship and Drill. Inspection was led by the C.C. with the Adjutant and Lt. Rick Thom absent W/O Trinder. Bowley named best dressed cadet and received the lanyard and one dollar.
February meeting of the Makaroff W L Institute was hosted by Mrs. V Davis at her home with six members and two visitors. President Madame O Hilderman led the session. Secretary Treasurer Madame G Pound reported 6.65 balance. Read correspondence included five thank you cards and appeals from Red Cross. The group discussed fundraisers for Children’s Hospital and a Book Mart project netting 19,000 for the hospital’s research center.
Amaranth brings 60 athletes to compete in basketball volleyball ping pong chess curling and badminton. Friday features Jr and Sr Boys volleyball at the High School gym and Jr and Sr Girls basketball at the Intermediate School. Saturday schedules include curling ping pong chess volleyball and hockey with events at the High School Library High School gym and New Rink. Public urged to attend and enjoy.
The Roblin Mustangs beat the Inglis team 14-0 as Jarry Pitze earned his first shutout of the season. Eugene Lavallee led scoring with four goals, Clarence Bauer Rod Buick and Allen Filewich added two each, while Colin Ritchie Rudy Daniels Tom Cockerill and Paul Borchardt tallied single goals. The Snake Creek League wraps up its regular schedule by March 8.
Miss Mary Matsyk and Miss Lark Gamey from the U of M visited their families during mid term break. Donna Oliphant will practice teach in Roblin for five weeks. Jim and Hazel Mitchell visited family homes, while Julie Mitchell and friends joined the Flin Flon Eonspiel. Weekend visitors at Leon Jolliffe’s home included Marnie Jolliffe and Ed Scribner from Winnipeg.
