Funeral services for Thomas A. Yeo in Roblin
Thomas Albert Yeo 7A died suddenly February 17 at Roblin. Born in 187b at Hepworth Ontario he settled in Manitoba marrying Annie Yates in 1902. He ran Roblin Motors for twenty years and supported curling. survivors include four sons, several daughters and brothers and sisters. Burial at Roblin Cemetery with Anglican and Knox Church services.

Gordon Arnott of Goose Lake Collegiate won fourth place in the Grand Challenge at the Dauphin High School spiel held last weekend. His rink included Ray Forest, Jimmy Bogle, and Daryl Miller, earning Roblin the lone prize of socks and nylons amid a field of local entrants. Doris Andres and team won the Hard Luck Prize for nine games played with five wins.

Six rinks led by G Mitchell and others compete in the Grandview spiel starting Monday. Dr J Carlyle Parker will attend a Dominion Board of Pensions meeting in Winnipeg. Florence Cameron of Roblin places second in Downhill and third in Slalom at Princeton BC Ski Tournament. Roblin curlers head to Saturday High School Bonspiel with entries from Dauphin Inglis Togo and others.

Banquet for Roblin Ladies Curling Club Held in United Church
The Roblin Women’s Institute hosted a banquet last Friday at the United Church basement. Mayor McBride and Dr. Parker gave greetings and Grace opened with a prayer. A short program followed with piano duets, vocal solos, a tap dance, and a reading before the group returned to ice for a heavy game schedule.

Canadian Railways won a 7.1 percent freight rate hike on Wednesday raising the total increase to 16 percent. The higher costs will be passed along to consumers including meat and tomato purchases.
