Frank Owens Named Supervisor for School Bus Operations
Hon. Stewart E. McLean appoints Frank Owens of Starbuck as supervisor of transportation to manage expanding school bus operations across the province. Owens will inspect vehicles, approve purchases by boards, and determine transportation grants. The changes reflect a rise from 850 routes in 1959 to over 1,400 this year, with provincial funding covering 60 percent of bus costs and pupil transport up to 100 dollars annually. The Highway Traffic Act amendments require SCHOOL BUS signage on contracted vehicles and eight inch letters, with signs to be covered when private transport is used.

Hillsburg council meeting minutes July 1960
Hillsburg Rural Municipality held its regular July 6 1960 council meeting with Reeve John Perchaluk presiding. Minutes were adopted. Various by law transfers were deferred until full information. William Yaciuk was named enumerator for 1960. The revised elector’s roll was adopted. Council sought $4200 in grants for gravel and school bus route work and asked Agriculture to include bears and timber wolves as predators for bounty. Walter Soltys claimed $36 for municipal convention car expenses. Accounts totaling cheques 5367 to 5398 were approved.
