Ratepayers of Goose Lake Consolidated School District approve a 1955 budget of 89 000 at the January 14 meeting in the Collegiate auditorium with 40 attendees. Elections appoint Ross McBain as secretary and Allen Becker as chairman.

First Business Meet Held January 10th

The Roblin 4-H Club chose a delegate, Mavis Charles, to attend Winnipeg Week. The Sewing Susies met January 10 1955 in the school auditorium with 51 members present. Shirley Wark resigned as secretary. Doris Korbut elected new secretary. An Easter Tea and Bazaar fundraising plan was approved. Uniforms for Rally Day discussed. a makeup demonstration by Mrs DL Braddell arranged. Meeting adjourned.

Quiet January wedding in Roblin church

A quiet wedding occurred at 10 A M on January 10 in the Roman Catholic Church at Roblin. Mrs Marie Goutlieb wed Mr Joseph Stepheger of Pelly Saskatchewan with Rev Father Socenski officiating. The couple were attended by Mr and Mrs D Greenland. The bride wore a blue gabardine suit with white accessories. They left for prints south and will reside in the Cromarty district.

Seed quality in Grand Narrows survey reveals high weed seed counts

L W Somers reports on a 1954 seed drill survey in Grand Narrows done with the 4-H Seed Club. Among 29 samples, 56 percent were rejected for weeds, 27 percent No 2 Commercial, 17 percent No 3 Commercial, none Nos 1 Commercial. Primary weed presence caused 45 percent rejections. secondary weeds also high. Findings urge renewed seed stocks and increased cleaning. continued on Page 5.

Hillsburg Council Forms Committees and Sets 1955 Plans

Hillsburg Rural Municipal Council met January 4 1955 at the municipal office. Re-elected members were sworn in and By-law No 279 set salaries and banking powers for the year. New committees were named including Finance Roads and Bridges and assignments for solicitor assessor and health officer.
