Ratepayers of Goose Lake Consolidated School District approve a 1955 budget of 89 000 at the January 14 meeting in the Collegiate auditorium with 40 attendees. Elections appoint Ross McBain as secretary and Allen Becker as chairman.
A Vancouver welder disputes a columnist over union leadership, wealth, and member rights. The exchange centers on cigars and Cadillacs as symbols of leadership, the legitimacy of union security, and the right to join or abstain from unions, with sympathy for Kuzych’s fight to rejoin his Roiler Maker's Industrial Union.
The Roblin 4-H Club chose a delegate, Mavis Charles, to attend Winnipeg Week. The Sewing Susies met January 10 1955 in the school auditorium with 51 members present. Shirley Wark resigned as secretary. Doris Korbut elected new secretary. An Easter Tea and Bazaar fundraising plan was approved. Uniforms for Rally Day discussed. a makeup demonstration by Mrs DL Braddell arranged. Meeting adjourned.
Dr. W. Kobenka, a dentist, informs patients that his practice is now located above the Shell River Municipal office.
The Roblin Credit Union Society Limited will be closed until Monday January twenty fourth. Payments or deposits may be made at the Coop Consumers Store. Manager Mrs. L Hutchison requests cooperation from members.
A quiet wedding occurred at 10 A M on January 10 in the Roman Catholic Church at Roblin. Mrs Marie Goutlieb wed Mr Joseph Stepheger of Pelly Saskatchewan with Rev Father Socenski officiating. The couple were attended by Mr and Mrs D Greenland. The bride wore a blue gabardine suit with white accessories. They left for prints south and will reside in the Cromarty district.
The Makaroff W I met at Mrs I Boyces home with 11 members and 9 visitors, 4 visitors becoming new members. President Mrs Joan Arnott led a devotional, program topics included Education reading, leadership course notes, and a Scotland WI letter. Lunch was served. next meeting will be at Mrs Pearl Elliots home.

Roblin Ladies Curling Club Mrs Elsie Galbreath skip Julie Mitchell Elizabeth Bruce and Willine Dietrich played in Dauphin with Verna Newtons rink of Dauphin the champions.
L W Somers reports on a 1954 seed drill survey in Grand Narrows done with the 4-H Seed Club. Among 29 samples, 56 percent were rejected for weeds, 27 percent No 2 Commercial, 17 percent No 3 Commercial, none Nos 1 Commercial. Primary weed presence caused 45 percent rejections. secondary weeds also high. Findings urge renewed seed stocks and increased cleaning. continued on Page 5.
Hillsburg Rural Municipal Council met January 4 1955 at the municipal office. Re-elected members were sworn in and By-law No 279 set salaries and banking powers for the year. New committees were named including Finance Roads and Bridges and assignments for solicitor assessor and health officer.
Evangeline Rebekah Lodge No 41 installed officers on Thursday evening January 13. D.D.P. Mrs. Darrell Staple and staff conducted the ceremony naming Jr P N G Mrs. Frank Rice as N G Mrs. Leroy Waters as W G and other officers including R S N G Mrs. Harry Cross L S N G Mrs. William Ford and I G Mrs. Lorne Stevenson.
