Obituary for Reuben Poyser in Canada England roots and family

Funeral services were held January 6 at 2 pm in Church Anglian for Reuben Poyser aged over 60. He died Friday January 3 in hospital after a long illness. Interment followed at Rollin District Cemetery. Pallbearers included Ed Mysii-Chuk Philip Hansen Ted Sanner Wil Ward Morten and Roy Cockerhl. Born in Onecote England he moved to the District then Austin Manitoba and later worked as a Silty tower man at Deep assets Forestry Tower. He married Pearl in Merridale in 1916 and leaves 12 sons, Trevor Raymond and Lawrence in Edmonton Haroert and Leonard in Robone daughter Leslie in Winnipeg, 15 grandchildren and several siblings in England and Canada.

Funeral service January 4 1960 at United Church Roblin conducted by Rev G E Waddell with Macain’s Funeral Service in charge. Interment at Roblin Cemetery with pallbearers named. Survived by wife Florence Irene Lunan two daughters one son and a step-brother and step-sister. Born in Ontario he moved to Roblin district in 1903 and farmed before becoming a drayman in Roblin.

Stanley Yakobowski R Catholic Church rites in Shortdale

Stanley Yakobowski of Shortdale died after a long illness at Albert Plains at age 82. Funeral held Monday at 10 a.m. officiated by Father M. Renco with Sneath Funeral Service in charge. interment in Roblin Catholic Cemetery. He was born in Ukraine, immigrated to Canada in 1910, lived in Winnipeg, Roblin district, then Shortdale since 1959. Surviving are wife Alice, five sons Nick Shorsdale Peter Fenant Mike, daughter Elsie, and brother Andrew.

Shell River Council appoints 1960 officers and by laws

The Shell River Municipal Council met January 5 1960 electing F H Wilson reeve Il Edel deputy reeve J Otke Traub as public works and finance committees. M Peaven secretary treasurer 3300 annually Oss K Black part time assistant clerk 300. Various by laws appoint health officer solicitor and police keepers. Monthly relief allowances approved and tax discounts kept. Council authorized bank transactions and road snow plow requests. Meeting adjourned to February 3.

Hillsburg Council Meeting December 29, 1959 Proceedings

The December 29 1959 meeting of the R M of Hillsburg chaired by Reeve John Perchaluk adopted two minutes of the last meeting. By law 337 authorized transfer of NE 5 26 27 to Arnold F Burns and by law 338 authorized transfer of NW 4 26 27. Farmers suffered crop loss from deer damage and asked the provincial government for compensation. Clarence Paul to be paid 1.00 per hour for Cat repairs.

Cranwell Celebrate 66th Wedding Anniversary in Roblin

Mr and Mrs Wm Cranwell of Roblin Manitoba celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2:30 to 6 pm. He was born in England and she in Ontario. They married in Branden and Russell, later in Tummel, now retired in Roblin. They have two living children C of Roblin and Mrs Ducharme of Nacmine, 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. telegram from the Queen and messages from Prime Minister Diefenbaker and Premier Rebertin were among gifts.

Mrs. Sam Tederian has returned home from Winnipeg after spending New Year's with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Ouphant and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Laird motored to Yorkton on Saturday to attend the Yorkton Square Dance zone meeting and visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Becker.

Weir Silver Wedding Anniversary Honors in Shevlin

On December 27, 1959, about sixty friends and relatives gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Emil Weir of Shevlin to celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary with a short program led by Rev. A. Schmidt. The event included a life story epilogue, a reading of their first meeting, and gifts such as a 65 day clock and a silver tea set. A dinner of sandwiches and cakes followed, leaving attendees reflecting on 25 years together and wishing many more to the couple.

Grand Narrows Seed Club Re organized

The Grand Narrows Seed Club reorganized at a meeting at Richard Klassen's home. Ray Murray remains leader. New officers: John Radford President Faith Framingham Vice President Maynard Dixon Secretary Treasurer Lynda McGinnis Club Reporter. Members voted to donate to the Manitoba March of Dimes and pay dues to the Manitoba 4-H Council.

Tummel 4H Club Holds January Meeting at Jory Home

The regular monthly Tummel 4H Club meeting was on January 8 at Mr. R. Jory's home. Presentations were given to Mr. J. C. Brook and Mr. R. Livingstone, Bobby Case’s gate sign design was accepted, and oldest members per family were sent to Hereford Digest for subscriptions. A Feed Meeting is planned for January 15, with the next gathering on February 12, and lunch was provided by Mrs. R. Jory.

Goose Lake School Board starts the year with new and re elected trustees taking oaths before Mr. L I Spear. H Maslove re elected chairman and committees on finance property and van set. Annual meeting planned January 14 at 8 p m in the collegiate.

Roblin Intermediates face strong tests this January

The Roblin Intermediate Hockey Club has four games this season with one loss. On January 16 they meet St. Vlnd's College and Elphinstone at the local arena. Inglis Intermediates clash with Roblin Intermediates at Roblin Skating Rink on January 22 at 8:30 p.m. A possible double header may include Roblin Bantams versus Russell Bantams.

Public Meetings Planned By School Division Trustees

The Intermountain Division trustees elected officers at Grandview with P Nowosad as chairman and Monty Miller as secretary treasurer. Committees include finance and building, as plans for funding two high schools and an addition are advanced. A by-law authorizing borrowing 855000 with 75 percent government grant was second read. Public meetings run until February 11 to explain sizing locations financing and taxation ahead of the February 12 vote.
