Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed in Ontario Village

One couple, tied by a 50 year marriage, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at their Ontario home. Nearly 30 relatives and friends attended a program of toasts, an illuminated address, carnations, and a grand lunch. Messages of good wishes arrived from England, and attendees included Mrs F Trickett and daughter, Merle, and Miss Marjorie McGinnis from Grandview.

Shortdale Notes From North Hall Concert and Market Day

Mr John Yakimishin returns from hospital while Mrs Kalada remains at Dauphin hospital. Hardware prices rise as maid orders. A North Hall concert drew a grand crowd though the aiding hand event was less attended. Shortdale and district held a community market day with a large crowd and many transactions. The first regular market day of the season will be March 5. farmers are urged to attend and indicate trade wishes.

Makaroff Hall Hosts Shower and Dance for Beattie Pair

An enjoyable evening at Makaroff Hall last Wednesday featured a miscellaneous shower and dance for Mr. and Mrs. Wifred Beattie. An augmented orchestra played modern dance numbers with a supper interval gifting the couple many useful items. After supper the floor was filled with confetti as the celebration continued. the Beatties will reside in the Makaroff district.

Farmers log their own timber amid a hopeful mood at Merridale as winter work continues. A February 19 masquerade at Merridale School drew strong attendance and praised costumes with winners including Miss Wo Mawellsenew Wisex Co and J. Nastrom-Indian in a Coackerill impersonation.

Miss E Rowan of Walker and Miss G Middleton spent weekends with friends. Kam­sack resident Miss Emily Pennell visited Mr. and Mrs. T. Dixon. Lavere Lester returned from Kam­sack after two weeks with Ray Pennell. J. Dixon and friends visited Cockerill's mill where his brother works. The Y P A held a well attended meeting with discussion and lunch. A large crowd enjoyed a surprise party at Mr Burrell’s with dancing until 3. UFM at Mrs Ferguson’s was well attended due to Mr Dixon's conveyance. Mrs Ferguson served lunch and guests departed. An accident injured Henry Murphy, a local schoolchild, who broke his leg and was taken to Kam­sack hospital.
