Homemakers' Corner presents a safety questionnaire for reducing hazards in the home. It covers securing stairs, rugs, window screens, furniture, yard fencing, backing car safety, yard debris, medicines, cleaners, fireproofing, extinguishers, stove handles, radiators, hot water controls, sharp tools, storage for pins and needles, toy safety, open sockets, firearms and ammo, and removing hazards. The guidance urges correcting any "no" answer to improve child safety.

J Found Rink Captures Grand Aggregate Honors

Roblin hosts its 43rd annual men’s bonspiel with 36 rinks, 12 outside. J Found’s Grandview foursome earned the Grand Aggregate through nine wins and one loss, narrowly defeated by J Mitchell in Newton finals aired on CJGX Yorkton. Mitchell, Found, and Grandview rinks led in Newton and Mitchell events with multiple placings across six events.

Makaroff WI February meeting notes and new members

The Makaroff Women’s Institute met February 8 at Mrs. C Elliott’s with nine members and seven visitors. Attendees discussed book week, library use, plans for card parties, first aid courses, and a call for 50 volunteers. two new members Mrs Jack Pound and Mrs James Kerswell joined.

Wm. Ford Elected Board Chairman of Roblin Hospital District No 2

The Roblin Hospital District No 2 governing board met on February 7 1962 at 2 pm. Wm. Ford was named chairman for 1962 and other officers were elected. The board discussed basement renovation, a potential sale of hospital land, a buzzer system, staff status, and interviewing for secretary treasurer. It authorized banking arrangements with Royal Bank of Canada Roblin and approved a 25 dollar bonus for R Keast.

All Rinks in Roblin Ladies Bonspiel Win Prizes

Roblin curling club hosted the annual bonspiel with eighteen rinks entering from Roblin, Russell, Grandview and Inglis. R Reyda’s foursome dominated the event, while prizes went to top teams in four events, including Bowley Arksey and Laur ie, and Lupichuk, with Sorbo earning the largest end prize and Lupichuk team awarded hard duck. The two day competition concluded Tuesday evening with finals and every rink receiving a prize.

W I Observes Anniversary With National W I Notes

The Roblin Women’s Institute, marking the national six year anniversary, held a February meeting where excerpts from National President Mrs. Annie G. Haggerty’s New Year message were read. She urged casting fear through serenity and faith to influence others. Short courses in Brandon focus on crafts and Homecraft Week, while Family Living Week covers interior finishing and horticulture, open to all Manitoba women.

Vehicle licensing notice for 1962 AU highways

The local RCMP detachment issues a notice that all motor vehicles using highways after February 28 1962 must be licensed for 1962. Anyone driving without a 1962 license displayed on their vehicle faces prosecution.

Carnival Set for March 9 at Roblin Hospital Aid Fundraiser

The Roblin Hospital Aid carnival is planned for Friday March 9 to raise funds for hospital equipment and nursing facilities. Highlights include Carnival Queen candidates, Grandview Band and Major ettes, outside skaters from Dauphin, and prizes for costumes and children's races.

Rabies Alert Urges Local Action in Rural Manitoba

AG rep reports high rabies incidence across a triangular Manitoba region affecting skunks and other wildlife. The Roblin Women's Institute expresses gratitude to organizations in Roblin and district for Manitoba March of Dimes support for crippled children and adults. Local canvass totals include schools, business places, BPO Elks and Mothers' March, with a reported overall tally of 197.64 though one group has not yet reported.

Shell River Council Plans Purchase of Motor Grader

A special Shell River Rural Municipality meeting chaired by Reeve FL HL Wilson approved buying a Caterpillar No 12 diesel motor grader from Powell Equipment Company with snow plow and accessories for 34,125.00. Trade allowance includes a Richardson juad Machinery grader Serial 52080, 7,125.00 cash 10,000.00, and 17,000.00 due in ninety days. Kane Equipment and Power Equipment attended the session.
