Roblin Daycare Seeks Land for New Facility at Main Street Lot
Roblin town council heard from Smurf and Smurfettes Daycare Co op about donating land at the old curling site to qualify for a grant. They explained a three year old incorporation search for a suitable facility. The council tabled decisions pending further research as the town also negotiates land with another party. A resolution was passed to advertise sale of the 125 Main Street lot with an asking price of 15000. Councillor Nykyforak reviewed recreation commission budget.

Break on First Ave Causes Three Day Water Cut
Glen Reierson and Nick Solotwinski used a steam injector to locate a break in the water main on First Ave on Thursday February 9. Water ran down Main St around 8 a.m. The break left businesses on First Ave between Main St and Highway 5 without water for three days.

Elections Manitoba reports Len Derkach led in contributions with 13 992.75 and nine gifts over 250 for the PC tally. Neil Stewart, Liberal, received 6 531.80, while Dennis Trinder, NDP, reports 6 660 with 6 400 as in kind from Saskatchewan NDP.

Accidents blamed on ice near Roblin cause injuries
Two San Clara residents injured when a 1977 Mercury Marquis flipped on icy Highway 83 five miles north of Roblin on February 6. The Jaws of Life freed a passenger. A Goose Lake High student escaped with minor injuries after a February 8 crash on Highway 5 ending with a car on its side. RCMP warn against cruise control in winter conditions.

United Church moderator Dr Sang Chul Lee to visit Roblin
Right Rev. Sang Chul Lee moderator of the United Church of Canada will visit Roblin from February 16 to 19 1989. He will attend a Northland Presbytery meeting in Birch River and speak at Knox United Church after a noon luncheon at the 50 and Over Club. He will take questions from the audience.
