A Roblin farmer argues that governments borrow capital through credit and watered stock, misusing accumulated labor as wealth. He proposes replacing borrowing with government credit based on actual labor, noting currency regulation as the main hurdle and urging a bank to extend labor-based credit.
The Shell River Council gathered in Roblin on February 2 with Reeve Rogers and Counsellors Thompson Sorochuk and Curle presiding. Minutes from prior meetings were approved and by laws read for first to third reading. Reports covered health nurse services, bids for plank delivery, weed inspector tenders, 1944 assessor appointment, tax title actions, and municipal account payments.
Roblin locals report visits by Mrs J McNeill and others to Melville and Winnipeg. Farmers Union of Canada speaker S P McNamee spoke at Tumme and Roblin. Meeting of Makaroff area board held in Makaroff with several locals attending. Roblin biz and schools invite ratepayers to Bri el Silver Hillsburg Trustees Assembly Hall meeting Feb 19. In a top hockey clash Roblin beat Gilbert Plains 7 to 8 with key injuries and penalties affecting the Plains side.
On February 7 Roblin welcomed a son to Mr and Mrs E Currey. On February 13 Roblin welcomed a daughter to Mr and Mrs M Currey.
The Department of Immigration and Colonization plans to bring selected immigrant farm laborers to Canada for next spring. The Soldier Settlement Board conducts a canvass to determine farmers needs. Farmers wishing to hire should submit an application, detailing required workers and farming operations, contact Field Supervisor A. F. Forsyth of Dauphin.
Burrows 349.35 and auditor 84.50 entries appear. That tender by K Cockerill for 7500 feet of tamarac plank at 35 per thousand, to be delivered and set, is to be accepted after advertisement for tenders. Court of Revision adjourns to Bisld Court on Wednesday, March th.
A report lauds the Public Health Nurse Miss A Beggs for 1928 in Roblin and Shell River Municipality. It details 276 children found with defects, 47 excluded for communicable disease and 177 referred to doctors, plus 306 900 home visits and extensive education on prenatal postnatal care infant welfare and disease prevention. The nurse organized clinics including tonsil and adenoid operations, baby welfare work, and maternal instruction, traveling 8377 miles and saving the community money while enhancing child health and school attendance.
Minister Rev. Robert Harvey presents a sermon titled The Goo of the Left Hand and a message The Kingdom Within Frontiers. Children’s address Wearing The Rocks and The Empty Trunk. Sunday school sessions list Tummel 19 noon Cromarty 2 PM Roblin 2 PM.

The band, 22 members strong, has played in nearby towns and during Roblin holidays. A committee will seek renewal of Council grant. The group lauds the band as a civic asset and thanks conductor Mr McMurray for leadership.
Mr and Mrs Kinesey visit Winnipeg hospital with expectation of returning soon. Local clubs report growing membership, cream sales strong, and a January meeting presided by Mrs John Kines with new member Mr C Howe. Tuxts fund plans discussed. Tummel Church Club met at Union Church with fee proposal and schedule shift to Thursday for joint church activities.
MFERRIDALE The Cradle At Merridale reports a daughter born to Mr and Mrs Harold Fraser on February 6. The piece also discusses Hillsburg municipality minutes, commentary on economy and retrenchment, and a debate on urban versus rural work opportunities amid unemployment concerns.
