Shell River Council Seeks Local Health Unit Here

The Shell River council met February 3 1960 with Reeve F H Wison presiding and full membership present. Minutes approved, January accounts totaling 14874 52 passed. Several motions set cemetery profits and care, tax rolls revisions, 1960 pay rates, tenders for operators and graveling, fuel supplies, and a health unit request including X ray services. Next meeting scheduled March 2 1960.

Ag Rep Reports Lamb Wins Feeder Cattle Club Honors

Mr Wendell Lamb won top honors in a Manitoba Pool Elevators feeder cattle competition. He will receive a paid trip to the U S Livestock Marketing Centre in Minneapolis St Paul and other U S livestock interest points this summer. Cliff McCrea placed second and Robert Livingstone third. The scoring uses a 40 69 scale with farm and carcass scores. The club reorganizes for 1969 with secretary Robert Livingston. A handicrafts course and a five day homemakers short course are announced at Brandon Agricultural and Homemaking School with dates in March. Room and board are available at $10 a week. Applications are via your Ag Rep.

Roblin March of Dimes Campaign Totals

Proceeds from the March of Dimes drive in Roblin totaled 204.47 sent to Manitoba Headquarters in Winnipeg. Donations came from elementary and secondary schools, Mothers' March house collections, and the Recklin Women’s Institute thanks all who contributed to a successful campaign.

Adeline McKay 86 dies at Togo Saskatchewan obituary

Adeline Morin McKay aged 86 died at Togo Saskatchewan on February 2 after a long illness. Funeral services were held February 6 at San Clara Roman Catholic Church with Father Dansereau officiating. Interment at Parish cemetery. Surviving include son Joe F McKay of Boggy Creek Manitoba two daughters Lora Mors eau Boggy Creek and Enid McKay Tozo Saskatchewan plus a brother three sisters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Roblin Ukrainian Catholic Hall hosts funeral for Daniel Boychuk

Daniel Boychuk died in Roblin February 2 at age 79 after a short illness. Funeral services Friday at 10 a.m. at the Roblin Ukrainian Catholic Hall officiated by Father S Evanochka with Father Y Dybka assisting. Burial followed at Parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Wm Boychuk, Milton Luchuk, Metro Soropud, Mike Stasiuk, Lloyd Pachkowski and Harry Stasiuk. Born in Ukraine, he moved to Canada in 1903 then to Roblin district in 190? retired 1952 to Roblin village. Survived by wife Anastasia and two sons John D Roblin and Peter Jamestown Ont. three daughters Annie Luchuk Deepdale, Mary Biluk James town Ont, Olga Dawek Toronto Ont. one brother Panko Roblin. 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Sixteen Attend Lutheran Ladies Aid Meeting

The Ladies Aid of St Matth ew s Lutheran church met Feb tin at Mrs H Edel s home with sixteen attendees. Rev P Bor enardy led Zechariah 1 study. Vacu-President Mrs E Mohr presided. Roll call and January minutes were read. reports on sick visiting and Lutheran Welfare Association noted. They approved funds for a Gesteiner table and a guest book, planned a wedding catering, and closed with doxology and benediction.

Hos pital Aid hosts annual Ice Carnival at Roblin Skating Arena on Friday March 7 featuring figure skating costumes children races a hockey game and board contest. St. Vladimir’s Tops Winnipegosis in NCJHL Showdown

In a fast paced NCJHL clash at Reblin arena St. Vladimir’s defeated Winnipegosis 53. St. Vladimir’s scoring featured Winicki Seychuk Panilo with four goals and Lewchyshyn adding one. Winnipegosis countered with a hat trick by Danny Johnson. Referees Fr Perejda and Ken Porter issued three penalties.

Jehovah's Witnesses Assembly Concludes in Roblin Hall

Five hundred and two attended the three day Jehovah's Witnesses assembly at Memorial Hall Roblin concluding Sunday. Vernon R. Duncombe of Toronto spoke on when is Gods Will to be done on earth highlighting governments failure and Kingdom of Heaven as true rule. Other speakers included T Mann L Hinnic M Markoski and J Boyko with Friday and Saturday programs detailing Divine Will International Assembly scenes and Christian activity.
