Minutes show H Jaasund re appointed to the hospital district board for a three year term. Council discusses adoption of last minutes and community consultation, with various accounts and payments approved. Some pension and old age matters referenced along with utility and office expenses.
A lively benefit program organized by local club members drew a large crowd and boosted the bonspiel coffers via turnstiles and a Bingo host. Roblin and Russell teams faced off in a rough but spirited hockey game with colorful costumes and large, بماe rosters, highlighting community humor and sportsmanship.
Regular Roblin village council meeting held February 1 with Mayor McBride presiding. Accounts approved include Workmen's Comp numerous payments and local vendors. licenses granted for Cabana Grill Club Cafe Diamond Grill Roblin Cafe. By law 105 to appoint officers for 1950 passed. Power company to add street lights. several light relocations. Cemetery committee appointment. old age pension grants listed. 1950 assessment roll accepted and tax roll confirmed.
Minutes of Roblin Hospital District No. 2 meeting at Shell River Municipality office on Jan 31 list M. A. Clarke as chairman for 1950 and I. L. Mitchell as vice chairman. Board appoints four municipalities reps for three years and discusses staff posts, donations, building needs, and committees with Mrs Ina Simpson and M. A. Cameron prominent.
Minutes of a February Trustees meeting show Les Spear’s resignation effective June 30 noted with regret as students posted strong exam results. The board planned school visits, building-supply price checks, youth supervision on Fridays, and sealed bids through Bowman & McFadden.
Twenty four outside rinks are entered as racing to 60 or 65 teams. Russell sends a strong contingent including Thom Westwood Ey Len ey Patterson McKin non. Roblin's Newton McConnell and teammates reached the finals at Dauphin before losing to Dauphin. Local clubs Gilbert Plains Grandview and Makaroff also represented. Mitchell's Drug Store promotes hospitality and room asks as incoming curlers line up for the event.
The Hospital Aid explains its purpose to support the Hospital Board and administration per its constitution. The February 7 meeting noted a $67.43 fund increase from the Robbie Burns tea and announced prizes for the first baby born in the hospital. Donors urged via convenors to prevent duplicate donations.
The local theatre screening of Little Women drew tears and praise. The library offers the old tale and its sequel Little Women Married, plus Lloyd C Douglas The Big Fisherman. Hours Saturday 8 to 9 p.m. and readers urged to join.
