J Laws on from Grandview beat Sam Lebedowich of Roblin in the second competition. Sixteen rinks competed, aiding the draw committee, and the Ladies Auxiliary served a buffet turkey banquet to close the day.

Manitoba for first time leases land for potash deposits. Hon. C. H. Witney says about 4,000 acres in western Manitoba near the Saskatchewan border, part of a 27,000 acre area held by Tombill Mines Limited of Toronto, with grades 25 to 30 percent K2O in beds six to nine feet thick beneath a salt roof. Area includes two zones six miles apart west and northwest of Birtle. Potash used mainly for fertilizers with other industrial uses.

After seven days of curling the Roblin Farmers' Annual Bonspiel ended January 31 with Don Shearer’s Castleavery rink taking grand aggregate honors by totaling six wins across the two main events. R. Harlow’s local crew were runners-up with five wins as the event crowned six category winners including Hilland Event and Co-op Event winners. Finals featured T. Watson’s rink opening the bonspiel and Phillip Hanson captaining the first six ender.

The Ladies Aid of St Matthew Lutheran Church met February 1 at Mrs Ed Andres home with twelve members and three guests. The meeting opened with hymn and prayer.
