A Friday evening event honored Harry Maslove for 14 years service on the Goose Lake School Board, nine as chair. The gathering featured a painting gift by Belle Buch of Shelkmouth, a board meal, and plans revealed for 1966 budget items including a Highway No. 5 walk and school access project.
The Manitoba School Trustees Association urged the province to boost education funding. They call for charging the present school tax rebate to another department, guaranteeing $175 per pupil for transportation, 60 percent grants on outstanding elementary debentures, increasing per classroom grants, and quarterly grant installments to aid cash flow. The convention highlights potential future changes in education financing.

Watson 88 who died November 25 1965 at Brandon Nursing Home and for Ronald P Jakeman 47 who died November 25 1965 with Roblin Memorial Chapel in charge of arrangements Interment was in Roblin District Cemetery and for Bertina Anderson who died November 24 1965 aged 9 with services in Dropmore United Church and burial in Dropmore cemetery The notices name survivors and pallbearers and recall service affiliations.
Industrial hopes rise as J R Simplot Company of Boise Idaho plans a Brandon Manitoba complex adjacent to Cornwallis. A 300 ton daily ammonia plant and other facilities will cost about $30 million and start by October 1966. The project cites water gas and CN routing as key factors.
The Vulcan United Church hosted the Nov. 6 wedding of Telford Delwyn Dixon and Levona Gale Laid. The couple, both from Manitoba and Alberta respectively, plan residence in Cluny where the groom works for the Pool Elevator Co.
Mrs James Martin remains a patient at Dauphin Hospital after eye surgery. Mr and Mrs G Miller of Brandon visited their daughter and son in law Al Allanson and family. Mrs C Brumwell and Mrs E Brumwell traveled to Winnipeg to visit relatives. Mrs Brumwell sees her daughter while Mrs Brumwell visits brother Harry Cross in hospital. Ottawa mayor complains about robe fit. Charlotte Whitten is amused. Fashion critics fault Princess Margaret's US visit outfits calling fur coat mothy and ratty.
The United Church Women met November 30 at 8 p.m. in the United Church to nominate the 1966 slate of officers led by Honorary President Mrs. Dixon and President Mrs. McNicol. A Christmas party and installation are planned with gifts for the mentally ill. Readings included messages from Hong Kong and a rally report from Gilbert Plains.
Charter members recognize Murray Shearer Maurice Digby and John Hunter for eleven years of junior leadership. Garry Digby and Douglas Hunter take over after further district provincial and national recognition. A TV farm accounting series begins with twelve kits sent to area farmers for sessions over December to February.
Doctor and Mrs M G Israels of Vancouver announce the engagement of their eldest daughter Barbara Joan to Kenneth Ducan Johnstone of Toronto son of Mr and Mrs Allan Johnstone of Bield Manitoba The wedding is set for December 28 in Vancouver.
Mr Mainard Dixon spent a short holiday at his parents home. Mr and Mrs Norman Dixon visited Winnipeg and Pine Falls for a week. Miss Karen Wilson of Winnipeg stayed with her parents last week. Mrs Geo Murray has returned home from Roblin Hospital. Mr Howard Wilson attended the Municipal Convention in Winnipeg last week. Callan and Trevor McFayden of Lipton are visiting their grandparents.
