Crowd Packs Roblin Carol Festival in Collegiate Auditorium

A capacity audience gathered Friday evening for Roblin Community Group’s annual Christmas Carol Festival at the Roblin Collegiate Auditorium. Numerous choirs including St. Vladimir's College Boy's Choir and the Holy Redeemer's Church Choir performed Ukrainian carols, with the program closing in traditional style as God Save The Queen.

Roblin and Area Council Minutes Include Grants and Parties

December council session chaired by Reeve F H Wilson approved November payments totaling 17613.35 and granted 500 to 1965 services. Roblin officials moved to overspend 1965 estimates by 3000 for a storage shed and arranged hall renovations with focus on heating. Assiniboine Sonnettes met December 7 at Dropmore School planning a December 28 party with skates broom and glass tumblers.

During the week of December 20 Roblin stores extend hours. Monday holiday is waived with 10 p m closing. Tuesday to Thursday December 21 23 add four hours daily to 10 p m. Christmas Eve December 24 ends earlier with stores closing before 6 p m.

The Canadian Girls In Training group presents a Candlelight Vesper Service on Sunday evening December 18 at 7 30 p m in Knox United Church Roblin. All are invited to attend and a lunch will follow in the church lower hall.

Lutherans Elect New Officers At St Matthew’s Church

The Ladies' Aid of St Matthew's Lutheran Church met December 2 with ten members. Rev P Borchardt led prayers and readings. Officers elected for the coming year include President J Puritch and Secretary A Becker. A Christmas collection supported the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. A report on the Missouri Synod Convention in Detroit was promised with a lunch to follow.

Use your freezer to plan ahead for Christmas treats. Cakes cookies and mincemeat pies freeze well with careful wrapping while meringue and cream filled pies may not. Freeze fruit cakes and candies with attention to air and storage. booklets on freezing are available free from the Agricultural office in Russell. A tailoring course in Roblin begins January 31 requiring 25 enrollees with contact at the Agricultural Office.

Town Notes Mrs Martin Returns From Hospital Visit

Mrs. Jim Martin came home Saturday from the Dauphin hospital. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Kines left Tuesday for Ottawa for the holiday season and to attend the wedding of their son Donald.

McKAY Gordon and Elaine Mc Kay announce the safe arrival of their first son born December 8 at Flin Flon Hospital. Weight 10 pounds 11 ounces. A brother for Frances Elaine. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Arthur McKay of Shellmouth and Mrs Florence Ludwig, with great grandmother Mrs La Forte of Roblin.

Makaroff Garden Club Plans Curl During Christmas Holiday

The Makaroff Garden Club met December 13 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Smith with nine members present. They noted a Kiwanis Public Speaking Contest in late January and voted down joining the Grand Narrows Seed and Beef Club. The group will curl during the holidays, dates to be set, with next meeting January 10.

Cromarty 4-H Club met December 8 at Cromarty hall with a strong turnout. Members planned a tob oggan party for December 28 and a whist drive later. they also filled achievement forms for the year. Committees were named. the next meeting is January 7.

United Church Women Install New Officers

The United Church Women held their Christmas party and installation meeting on December 13 in the church basement. Visitors from Deepdale UCW and Anglican W.A. attended as members donated gifts for the mentally ill. Rev. Dixon installed 1966 officers after a brief business session.
