Social notes from Deepdale and surrounding towns

Mrs Leon Jolliffe and Marne returned from Winnipeg. The card party at Mrs Bearman’s drew many. Mrs Tom Roberts and Mrs Kink visit Dauphin. Ole Fagerland of St Boniface visited with Mr and Mrs B Ward. The church silver tea and botany event was well attended. A large meeting at Mr and Mrs Bale’s home discussed the store. Mrs Sid Argent came from Dauphin with Miss Vivian Argent. Mr and Mrs A Matthews returned after eight months with the CNR. The wood saw buzz hints at winter. Mrs John D D Ferguson of San Clara won the first lucky apron ticket from Sunny Slope Willing Workers. Mr Wellings Charboneau was second.

Silverwood District Notes and Community Events

Mr Poyser visited the district on business. Mr and Mrs Adam Sangster visited friends at Grand Narows. Mr and Mrs Wm Sangster spent a Sunday afternoon with Mr and Mrs J W Pearson. Well Byce is on the sick list awaiting recovery. Pupils rehearse for an upcoming Christmas concert. Poultry work is active this week for market. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs C R Speers on the birth of a son at Roblin on Friday December 3. Adam Sangster and J W Pearson attended the Makar an Elevator Association meeting on Thursday December 2. Patriotic Society met at Miss May Nault’s home with fourteen members present. Members sewed and wood was distributed for nine pairs of socks to knit for overseas boys. The meeting netted $2.75 and the next gathering will be at Mrs Redman’s on December 15.

Grand Narrows reports Pte Frank Middleton left on Saturday’s train while on leave. Many residents are ill with flu and wish them a speedy recovery. District visitors came to Harry Wilson’s home Sunday. Howard Radford, discharged from the Army, returned home Tuesday. Mrs Walter Middleton left for the City on the 4th to see her husband in the General hospital.

Dropmore-Tummel Open Hockey Season Opens in Narrow Loss

Tummel loses 5 to 4 on a road visit to Dropmore in the season opener. Grant Bramwell leads Tummel with four goals and Johnny Mitchell adds one. for Dropmore, Mike Turta scores twice and Floyd White adds one. Tummel players include J Christoff and Earl Mickelson among others.
