SILVERWOOD Mr and Mrs BE Finch visited Mylor on Sunday. Mr and Mrs KR Boyce returned home after holidays at Happy Lake. Mr and Mrs J Williams and Mr and Mrs F Byce of Morse Sask traveled here with Mr A Byce and the Misses Iansy and Marjorie Dyce. An Ice Cream Social and Concert at Union Church aiding the Ladies Aid drew a large crowd including Roblin and Makaroff residents. The Bir ls choir under Mrs R Boyce and solos by Mr and Mrs John McNeil were praised. Cakes and tea were served, and a vote of thanks was given. The evening ended with the National Anthem.
Togo residents note a severe hailstorm causing damage on Monday night and report several local movements. Mr George Lee left for Watson Saskatchewan while HL Tripp and family plan a short Ontario visit. Sir Henry Thornton makes a first official visit. Walter Belcher resigns from Craig & Tophams to join an elevator company in Winnipeg. Carl Frank sustains a broken leg after a Wednesday accident. School grades 10 and 11 list June exam passers and partial standings. The death of Mr Wu Jones at 72 is reported with funeral at the English Church. interment in Union Cemetery.
Deepdale School will reopen on Monday August 25. Miss Fraser from Winnipeg visits town while Mrs Lisowsky West spent last Wednesday in Winnipeg with Mr Lisowsky. The 3y met at Mrs F Lee's home. A social gathering is set for August 29 at the hall, all welcome. The Aid group meets at Mrs G Ward’s on September 10.
Roy Chase cut barley in Bield and the stand appears fair while a mild flue passed overhead. Snowdon visited Dauphin and returned Friday. Merrell family moved in and were welcomed. Union Lathes held a meeting at Mrs. Drinkwater home. Ivan Wansickle settled on a homestead and works on building. Roblin cattle buyer inspected the district for purchases. Maluts weed inspector hired men to clear vacant lands. Free Methodist Elder Fletcher to hold services in the near future. Contract gangs along CN rail right of way ditch muskegs into main ditch. Johnston of Zorra visited, frost damage reported across the area. Melville Olson returned from hospital with a foot wound. Rasberries and straw hats in demand as harvest nears. A heavy hailstorm in the north portion laid grain flat but damage judged slight. Ten nights of frost with Friday night the coldest yet. overall damage unknown.
A suspected thief known as the culprit for removing a hundred weight bag of sugar from the depot last night is urged to return it. Reports say theft from the station platform has risen over the past year.
Grand Narrows Misa Rose Dixon visits from Karnsack while Mr H Wilson travels to Roblin. A large dance at A F M Hall featured Mr and Mrs Henry Wilson and relatives. W S UFM group held a meeting with light attendance. Manitoba announces final acreages sown for wheat oats barley fall rye spring rye and flax with shifts across districts. Oats up six percent barley up eighteen percent flax roughly double last year.
