Mr G A Cassidy of InterCity Gas Utilities Ltd announces the appointment of Mr V A L Ohie. Community notices record visits by Grundy, Nabe, Beck, Radford, Slugoski and others, plus sympathy for Mrs Gabbe and the passing of Mr W Gabbe of MacGregor.
A bus tour drew Manitoba 4H Club leaders from across the province to the southeast corner as a reward for service. Mrs. Jean Martin led Roblin district delegates on a four day trip visiting Morden Steinbach Pine Falls Falcon Lake Tyndall and about a dozen other communities. Previous delegates were Ray Murray and Mrs. George Hunter. The report mentions a Lakehead Trip to the grain.
The Deepdale 4H Garden Club attended the Dauphin Rally on July 13 and joined the Red Ribbon group for parading. Barry Cockerill placed fourth in Weed Judging. At Russell, the club entered Judging and Parade and earned Blue Ribbon honors. Members earned multiple Junior and Intermediate placing in judging events. The group reports a successful rally period and notes meeting on August 5 at Mr. Klemetski’s home. Crop conditions are very favorable district wide with crops maturing well, aided by soil-tested fertilizer use.
Four youths from the Roblin district will face Roblin Police Court on Friday August 16 before Magistrate J C Walker. They are charged with slashing tires on tractors and farm machinery at P J Gaber and Sons plots and damaging tombstones at Tunnel Deer Park Cemetery during the early hours of August 3. Damage cost is estimated in the thousands. Additional windows were broken at Clemenceau and Sunnyslope schools recently moved to the Intermediate grounds.
Mr George Christie brought a large pemican piece into the office in late July. It was unearthed by a bulldozer operator on the Gerald Christie land in the southwest quarter of 6 25 29 near a slough. The buried pemican shows a long underground period whose exact age remains unknown.
The Shel River Municipal Council held its regular meeting on Wednesday August 2 1967 at 10 am chaired by Reeve F H Wilson. Council approved minutes of the court and payments totaling 12 900 88 in checks issued.
Mr and Mrs A J Bonazew were honored at a dinner party on July 28 at their home celebrating 30 years of marriage. Guests from Swan River Flin Fhon and Yarbo attended as their son Harold toasted and daughter Madeleine gave the blessing. The couple received corsages and a dishes and silverware set.
