Sheila Charbonneau Honored At Shower

A miscellaneous shower was held in honor of Sheila Charbonneau on Monday in the Silverwood Community Hall with about seventy friends and relatives. Games were played and a lunch served. Sheila thanked the guests for gifts and the evening. The Free Methodist Church held its regular meeting on August 11 with President Ruth Shiner leading. The devotional theme was Communicate. Mrs Blanche Ferguson reported on missionary work in Egypt and other missions. Fourteen members and one visitor attended.

Lutheran Ladies Aid Meeting at Zorra church basement

The Zorra Lutheran Ladies Aid met in the church basement with twelve members present. Rev. P. Borchardt opened the devotional, and discussions covered gifts, German songs, and Centennial Day arrangements at Calder. Proceeds from bake sale and cold plate booth totaled 117.70, with plans to form a Roblin chapter if invited.

Roblin to Host Winnipeg Youth Sports Tour August 28

Vince Leah will bring 23 young athletes aged 10 to 15 to Roblin on Monday August 28 for basketball and volleyball as part of a multi city tour begun August 13 in Thompson Manitoba. Organizers seek room and meal support from residents for the night and plan a community event at Goose Lake Beach or school grounds with a weiner roast and sing song.

Obituary for Emma Josephine Waters 1884 1967

Emma Josephine Waters, 82, died at Brandon General Hospital in Brandon Manitoba on Tuesday August 8 1967. Funeral held at Roblin Knox United Church on Friday August 11 1967 at 2 30 pm. Born October 16 1884 in Stockholm Sweden, moved to Minnesota as an infant, later lived in Bowbells North Dakota and Roblin Manitoba. Survived by four sons Donald Christie Minnesota Milton Witt Manitoba Severn California Minnesota, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Husband Burton H Waters preceded her in death August 22 1988.

Horticultural Society Plans Annual Flower Show

The Rob lin Horticultural Society held its August 14 meeting at the Laird home with 22 members. Vice president Chris Tummon chaired as final show plans for the August 25 mower show were confirmed and posters organized. Mrs. Robert Arnott won the plant food drag prize. next meeting set for September 15 at the Intermediate school.

Skeet Range Founded by Roblin Group

A skeet range near Roblin founded by Mr. Bob Whyte with eight skeet positions and five trap stations. Life memberships cost 10 dollars for individuals or 15 dollars for families, plus yearly Duck Mountain Game and Fish Association dues. Thirty members meet Tuesdays, paying 15 cents per shot and visitors 1 dollar per evening plus 15 cents per shot. Six members traveled to Dauphin last Tuesday for an evening shoot.
