The Aug 1950 wedding at Knox United Church Roblin united May Jakeman daughter of E Jakeman with Adliam Leonard Crawley son of Mrs W Crawley Winnipeg. Rev J Carlyle Parker officiated with Ada Jakeman soloist. Bridesmaids wore turquoise and guests from Winnipeg Calgary Toronto and Ontario attended. The couple will reside at 100 Ryland Winnipeg after a Banff honeymoon.

The grandmother picnic on John Arnott's lawn Aug 4 enjoyed a smaller crowd due to busy times. A sing song opened the program a corsage of sweet peas for each mother and a word puzzle prize won by Mrs C Rogers. A lunch concluded the pleasant afternoon and apologies were offered for president Mrs McRae's absence.

No 5 Highway West Surfacing Prospects

The Dauphin Herald reports a letter from Hon. Errick Willis, Manitoba minister of public works, stating that No 5 Highway from Dauphin to the Saskatchewan border has a very good chance of being hard surfaced within the next three years. The minister notes high priority and cannot promise specifics, but under normal circumstances the road is expected to be surfaced within three years.

Former Roblin Banker Dies in Winnipeg

John Hamilton Doig age 63 formerly of Roblin Manitoba and Chicago Illinois died Saturday in Winnipeg. Born in Scotland he opened the Merchants Bank in Roblin and later founded the South Central Currency Exchange company of which he was president. Survived by widow Laura four sons John A Robert Henry Kenneth all of Chicago two daughters Mrs Norman Wynne and Miss Laura of Chicago. Old timers of Roblin extend sympathy to the family.
