The second Centennial Dance sales advance with Uckers on sale. Yorkton band art Gellert engaged while Roblin Firemen manage refreshments. Prizes for best Centennial costumes urged as attendance set at $2 for ages 23 and up. A Centennial paper photo drive and Mother’s Day service are noted along with a Manitoba goodwill tour.
Mr and Mrs Frank Sawatsky and Mrs Weins called on Mr and Mrs Jack Middleton at Grand Narrows Sunday. Mr and Mrs Frank Watson visited with Mr and Mrs Ralph Larocque at Bredenburg Sunday. Mrs Charlie Dalle is visiting friends and relatives at Deloraine and Brandon.
Fifty five ladies met April 12 to discuss sinking cake mystery and food challenges sponsored by Roblin Agricultural Society. Mrs Ed Somers Winnipeg spoke on Convenience Foods stressing planning organization and the use of the number one convenience.
Donna Oliphant and Jim Bork coordinate the Centennial Variety Concert as practice fills spaces and paint spots mark scenery. Seventeen grade 12 students tour Brandon College and Winnipeg sites, including MIT, Free Press, University of Manitoba, and the General Hospital, in a beneficial educational trip.
The Canada Pension Plan offers seven benefits beyond retirement including disability, widows and orphans pensions, survivor benefits, and a lump sum on death. Disability starts May 1970 with a flat 25 dollars monthly plus 76 percent of the retirement pension. widow benefits vary after minimum years of contributions and include 60 percent of retirement pension after age 65. Estates receive a lump sum of six times the monthly retirement pension, capped at 500 dollars, with pension values affecting estate taxes. Regional offices in Winnipeg and Brandon provide more details.
Thirty-one women met at Roblin Hospital Clinic Room on April 17 to form the Streamliners Club with 42 more names filed. The group aims to improve appearance, health, and quality through exercises and discussion under officers President Mary Danylu Secretary Helen Gallant and others. Members will check with their doctors before exercising. Motto: United We Loge.
A large audience filled the Togo venue for a three hour Jim and Joyce show featuring a varied lineup. Performers included Jack Mourre with Winnipeg partners, Mary Crawford and Gil Cormier, and local acts such as Diane Baumung Marilyn Pfeifer and Isla White. Proceeds benefited the Togo and Community Centennial Project.

Roblin Town Council approved a $1150 contribution to St Pauls Home at Dauphin Manitoba in three interest free payments for 1967 1968 and 1969. The meeting covered budget items zoning transfers health unit changes and a fertilizer warehouse site on C N R right of way. Peter Juba was authorized to attend a Manitoba Police Association meeting in Winnipeg on April 28 with expenses paid by Roblin.
The Deepdale 4H Clovers Garden Club held its first meeting of the year on Monday April 10 at Albert Klemetski's home. Fourteen members enrolled, six new. Officers elected: President Ricky Cockerill Vice President Barry Cockerill Secretary Glenda Klemetski Treasurer Karen Mysko News Reporter Barbara Klemetski. Seeds ordered uniforms discussed and ordered. Next meeting Friday April 21 at Lawrence Doering's home. Members please bring money for seeds. Reporter Barbara Klemetski
Mr and Mrs Bill Backman attended their niece wedding in Regina Saskatchewan on Saturday April 15 after visiting relatives. Allan Martin Lynn Marjorie visited John and family Kines at Birtle, Verlyn Ferguson visited Winnipeg parents D and Mrs Ferguson, Lynn Dillin of Detroit visited H Dillin family, H Dillin's Calgary nephew also visiting, Jim Martin returned from two weeks in Ontario, Theresa Truffyn of Winnipeg visited Wm Truffyns. Birthday wishes go to W B R Scott for his 86th birthday on Tuesday April 18. A previously advertised false tooth was found 20 miles north on Highway 83, not 4 miles northeast of Roblin.
Manitoba keeps its long standing policy of compulsory vaccination for female calves to prevent bangs disease. All beef and dairy cattle producers must vaccinate females aged between 120 and 270 days, while bull calves are not vaccinated. Provincial officials say eradication efforts have reduced abortions but active infection remains a potential threat.
Mrs C McKenzie travels to Ontario to visit her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs A McKenzie in Kingston, and to Palmerston. Mr and Mrs L Powell of Moose Jaw visit the Leon Jolliffe home. Mrs R E Bucher of Neepawa and Mrs H Grundy of Winnipeg spend a few days with the Jolliffes.
