Local Grade XI students planning to enter Brandon University toured the campus on Friday to take adaptability tests. Principal Mr. O Ziolkosk accompanied them from Roblin Collegiate alongside students Donna Oliphant Sandra McGinnis Ethyl Yellowsga Carol Nahe Zenovis Horbay Joyce Kendrick Donna Lou Ford Shelley Jones Fenton Wilson Wes Smigelaky Everett Nabe Neil Stewart Jim Mitchell James Bork Dale Simpson Jean Lenderbeck Jack Lenderbeck.
The first Board of Trustees of the Intermountain School Division No 36 names committee memberships. Committees include Star and Sports, Negotiations, Finance, Transportation, Building Property and Supplies, Curriculum and Future Planning, Public Relations. Stan Kpleewak continues as secretary treasurer. Each committee has a named chairman.
The Shell River Municipality council met on Wednesday April 5 with Reeve F. H. Wilson presiding and all members present. Minutes from March were adopted. A by law authorizes a contract with Manitoba Hydro for street lights at Deepdale Makaroff.
The Roblin Band plans a Saturday April 15 fundraising canvass selling band bars to support band operations. Winnipeg visitants include Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clement arriving by jet after trips in England Scotland and Wales and returning by bus from Winnipeg on Saturday.
The Ladies Aid of St Matth Lutheran Church met on April 6 with eleven members and one guest in attendance. The meeting opened with a prayer led by Ravi P. Borrat. Two Mission movies were shown.
Bernice Exel wed to Donald Radford in a Roblin ceremony officiated by Rev. E S Dixon. Bride wore a white satin sheath with Chantilly lace train. bridesmaids wore nylon chiffon gowns with blue and carried red and white carnations. Groom’s party included brothers Clifford and Terence Radford. The couple will reside in Fort Rouge Manitoba. Out of town guests listed from Neepawa St Boniface Lipton Rossburn Allen Winnipeg and Dauphin.
Roblin Horticultural Society hosted a Telephone Whist drive at multiple venues including Elks Hall Roblin and Senior Citizens home. Twenty two tables played with trophies awarded to Greggie Perchaluk and Margaret Kozak among others, amid noted shortages and community thanks to participating clubs and individuals.
Mr. Geo Kostick reports a vapor light will be erected at the west hospital entrance to improve lighting on the grounds. Hydro proposes testing special floodlights at the front to assess lighting. J Stewart notes electric hot water tanks on rental basis are preferable after deeming one tank installation impractical. The board approves steel shelving, a Foster Refrigerator, a small 6 cubic foot refrigerator, and baseboards arriving for installation. Parking area signs discussed. repairs to be authorized. property committee notified. garden equipment considered for April.
